Had nothing to do this weekend so I decided to make a chip. I took an old mermaid mold chip and painted some edge spots on it. I used some automotive paint that I had lying around from my last project and went to town. I designed a simple but elegant inlay with it as well. I liked the final results. 1 down 499 to go. Tell me what you think.
My execution:
- Masked the edge spotted areas with masking tape and clay
(so the paint won't seep through the modling, a great idea for the people trying to dye edge spots on their faux clay chips)
- Designed an inlay with photoshop and illustrator
- Used 3M clear medical tape over the printed inlay for a textured affect.
- Dremeled the center out so the inlay can fit
Total time for 2 chips 4 hours (could have been quicker but I was watching the Warrior game at the same time)
This is a before shot of the chip.

This is my work area:
Here's a picture of the paint containers that are in the work area picture, they fit 43mm chips perfectly and they have a snap fit lid.
