Solid H-Molds from ASM

More pics to come. I'll try to make scans today.

Be sure to click to view the fullsize scan on imageshack. The first view is very grainy, but the full-size image came out nice.

More pics added 1/3/07

Timeline:
  • 5/16/06 - Placed initial order over the phone (posted here moments later)
  • 6/20/06 - finalized artwork
  • 6/23/06 - credit card was charged
  • 6/29/06 - I realized I had been charged, then confirmed with ASM that the chips were "in production"
  • 7/20/06 - Risked being a pain and contacted ASM for status of order. Told 3 out of 6 colors were done and awaiting clay for remaining 3.
  • 8/2/06 - In an attempt to get a fix while waiting, ordered custom coaster/dealer buttons from ABC.
  • 8/3/06 - Received email response from ASM that my chips are "re-pressed and cleaned and ready for the artwork. We have a truck coming on Wednesday and our plant manager expects your order to ship to the Finishing Plant on that truck. The general turnaround time at the finishing plant is 10 business days.
  • 8/4/06 - Giving me a very nice chip fix, Gene from ABC sent me a pic of my new buttons.
  • 8/7/06 - Received my new buttons from ABC. Very nice!!
  • 8/11/06 - My order went on the truck with many others on Friday rather than Wednesday. Not sure why, but at least they're moving on. Delivery by the 19th (Hosting a local gathering of CT members) looks very unlikely, but there's still the slimmest of chances, so I'm keeping hope alive.
  • 8/14/06 - Cathy at ASM plans to have my chips ready to ship Wednesday. With express delivery I should actually get them by the 19th!!!!!!!
  • no luck
  • 8/25/06 - Shipping confirmation received.
  • 8/28/06 - Delivery received!
Initial order to delivery - 14 weeks
Final artwork to delivery - 9 weeks
Credit card charge to delivery - 8.5 weeks
Start of "finishing" at finishing plant to delivery - just under 2 weeks

Re: Solid H-Molds

Very nice looking chips. I have thought about having chips done with my family shield or crest or whatever you want to call it too.

Re: Solid H-Molds

Thanks for the compliments everyone, I'm really happy with these.

The coat of arms is a design I had made with the intent of passing these on to my son when he is older. It is a combination of his mother's maiden name and my mother's maiden name, with my name as the central theme. Pretty cool IMHO. It is truly his unique coat of arms.

Let me know if you ever want to have one designed and I'll give the guy's info. He's over in Ireland and will make any design you're looking for. A basic design like this was only $45!!!

I did this on my chips, too (thought I was being more original ). I already have a family crest, though. People really like the look, and I couldn't be happier with the way they turned out.

Re: Solid H-Molds

Holy cow did I have a hard time with the scanner. First time I've scanned anything other than a sheet of paper.

No matter what I did, it was always extremely grainy. I finally gave up and decided to post what I had. Now that I see it on imageshack, the full-size image looks fine! Go figure.

Re: Solid H-Molds

Received the replacements for the very few returns I had yesterday.

The set is complete and all is well in my world.
