These came in last week. The background behind these was I wanted to get a cash game set that a) uses a minimum of different colors (i.e. 2 colors on the table at one time and b) could be used for years to come, particularly by my kids if they play poker years from now. With the second part in mind, I also wanted the set to be family oriented. Since there is no telling what $$ values these would be played with years from now, I went with non-denom. I have also always liked the simplicity of cardroom (as opposed to casino) inlays, which often have just the initials of the cardroon as the inlay design. So, with that in mind, J5 helped to design the inlay. Big thanks to John for his help here! What we ended up with is the letter A (initial of my last name) on the front, with LSH (first initial of each of my 3 kids) on the obverse over an "A" watermark). The watermark really doesn't show up that well in the photos but it looks fine in person. I will likely augment this set with a solid (grey) chip, as well as a higher value (most likely green 3D14) chip as well. Not to have more chips to play at one time, but just to have a better selection that more closely matches (from a color standpoint) general casino colors for various denoms.
Anyway, ordered/received:
Imp Blue 414 white - 300/334
Man Red 614 DG PInk - 200/197 - the 3 missing chips were a surprise! I have called Cathy and she said they would jump right on getting replacement chips made. Customer Service from ASM the whole time has been fabulous!
I have not had time to go through the whole set yet, but so far I have only found one defective chip. On that chip, one side of the inlay is about ready to come off. This defect has been mentioned/discussed on here before and I did in fact, find one. It was on a blue chip and the 34 extras will more than make up for it.
Thanks to Insane Irish and Matthew for organizing the ASM GB!
Update 1-6-06
Finally got my quarter's and $20 chips in. Played with them for the first time last night - really enjoyed them. Thought I would post a few pics. Also, I am in the process of designing a set of tourney chips with a inlay based on the them of this one. Going to go solids across the board on the tourney chips.
