Simple cash set

Someone saw a message I posted about painting edges spots on the diamond chips and asked me to post a picture.

Here is my original cash set. We use $1, $5, $25, $100, $200, $500 and $1000.
We also use the bounty chips in tournaments and in cash games for the person who loses their inital buy-in.

I used a paint pen from JoAnn fabrics to draw the edge spots. What can I say, the whole setup was cheap and had a good run.

cool...
how's the durability on the paint pen? Looks like some of the spots are chipping off.

Heh.. Umm.. It's not chipping. I just lacked the patience to do a decent job. The paint pen has a chisel like point so if you don't hold it at the right angle consistently you get some edges that are not as filled as the other edges. Also, since I rushed through it some edges are thicker than other. One would have to scrap the edges with a knife to get the paint to come off. The specs of white in the photo are lint.

Soooooo... no chipping.... just me and lack of attention to detail on a $30 set of chips.

Re: Simple cash set

thanks!

I was thinking of doing that to my set of super diamonds as well.

does the edgespot make the chip wider? (if that makes any sense)
or does the chip "absorb" the paint.

I would think the easiest way to do something like that would be to pack them into a case like that then use some masking tape to mask the area you are going to paint then just fill em in. You get nice clean consisten lines. But then again, real edgespots arent really perfect, they have disimilarities between them like yours do.

I thought about doing the masking tape thing. There is a local charity that has obtained permission to run a large tournament. They asked me to look into getting cheap customs for them. I was going to suggest hotstamped diamonds but I think almost everyone I have run into prefers edge spots on chips. It's too bad they don't make diamonds with edgespots but that would add to their cost as well.
Anyway, I am not all that thrilled with the idea of painting edge spots on 4000 diamonds, but I don't really want them to get those clunky 11.5 dice or suited chips. I've been to all of the major resellers so now I am off to find the best deal on a huge quantity of cheap hot stamped chips for them.

I can't really feel the edge spot when I run my finger over it. It's there but it's very thin. I tried taking the paint off using a sharp blade and I had a hard time getting the edge to hit the paint and not scrap the chip.

Re: Simple cash set

nice work. I seem to remember someone did do it with tape and stacking them. they might have even experimented with spray paints like fusion too.

the paint pen though was described as easiest and did a good job
