Chips: 1,214 | | | Re: Blue Chip Desperado Club "Custom" Label Chips....whaddayathink? I used the ripped sheets for the nexgens because I wanted my fake chips to be all that they could be. Really, I figured I wasn't going to buy any more and that these would be "the set". Really that's all. I already have another set of labelled Nexgens, which I love, and a ton of the las vegas 9 grammers. The bees came out and I was like "gotta label a set of those".
Now I want to lablel the desperados. I really like Blue Chips and the price is pretty close to being too good. I don't know... |

One other note, after measuring the recessed area in the center of the flame mold chip, it's about a 1.15 " diameter and it isn't big enough to accommodate a 1.2 inch label, so it looks like a 1" label is all that it will take. Quote: |

dolomite | Yeah, those guys really are delusional. Nice job on these labels though, I know what a job that can be. We'll get you in a game with some horseheads or paulsons one of these days. Even the dope at my game who thinks the spots are painted on knows they are better than nexgens!

There is plenty of room for the 1" labels to fit without touching the raised edge of the chip. There were some Blue Chips that had labels touching the raised edge of the chip however, giving my labels that Blue Chip out-of-round look. But that's what the buyer assumes with Blue Chip chips. The Yellow chips had surprisingly circular inlays almost throughout my 100 chips I ordered. Strange.
JM -
I forgot abou that "painted on" comment. At least your group can appreciate compression molded clay chips regardless of a couple stray comments.
As a side note, anyone have an answer why Paulson chips tend to have little abnormalities to the edge spots on the running edge of the chip and Blue Chip doesn't? Blue Chip edge spots tend to be perfectly straight on the edge of the chips and Paulson has that "compression" non-straightness to them (which I like). Just a goofy question...

Looks like the chips turned out well....thanks for taking the time to let all of us know how everything turned out. Based on the satisfaction you had with the quality of these after labelling, I've just ordered a small set for a cash game. I'm thinking of grabbing another hundred though, and had a question on one of the colors. What are the edgespots on the light blue chip? White and brown? My home monitor makes it look reddish, while at work it looks more brown. Just curious. Thanks. |

FWIW (not much I know) I once wrote a song called "Chinaski's at the Wheel". |

Chips: 138 | | | Re: Blue Chip Desperado Club "Custom" Label Chips....whaddayathink? Nice chips. I personally love the Blue Chip flame/shell mold. There not that slippery. The colors and edge spots are nice. I like the new labels and old labels you had on these. Nice job buying these chips.

The edge spots on the sky blue are white/brick-red (almost a brown color) I like those edges a lot too. Very unusual.
ALEN-
Thanks for the feedback. I agree too, they're not that slippery but we'll see as they're broken in.
Meridian-
I saw the movie Bukowski: Born into It last year in the theatres and there was a segment with Buk behind the wheel of his Volkswagen and it was pretty humorous. Not out on DVD right now but you gotta see it.
Thanks again for eveyrone's feedback, I'm glad you've all gotten to check them out,

Chips: 21 | | Re: Blue Chip Desperado Club "Custom" Label Chips....whaddayathink? How was the quality of the chip before labeling them? How are they compared to NJ skulls? If they aren't too bad, I might get them. |

Chips: 80 | | | Re: Blue Chip Desperado Club "Custom" Label Chips....whaddayathink? I would say the quality of the chips is pretty standard Blue Chip. Lighter weight chips. I did not have any spinners until I placed my own labels on them (probably have 12 out of 500 that spin). The Yellow and White chips were the best quality with the "roundest" inlays.
If the out of round inlay doesn't bother you and the plain shell/flame mold is satisfactory to you, I'd recommend them especially for the price. I would also recommend you label them as the denomination on the chips is virtually impossible to see without holding the chip close to you.
As compared to NJ Skulls...the skulls are a ceramic style chip and these are compression molded "clay" so the feel is going to be different. I prefer the Blue Chip over the NJ Skulls but that's my personal preference and I'm probably in the minority on this board.
I like the edge spot choices on these and the overall look when labelling is done.
