Looking to hire artist for custom labels
Hello everyone,
I am looking to start the process of finding someone to create a set of custom labels based on my design outline. I plan to put these labels on China clays from Jim at the chip shop. Either blank 8V chips or to re-label Pharaoh's. If I can confirm that the 8V chips are the same material as the Pharaoh's then it will be the 8Vs. I am working on the rough design and hope to have it ready sometime in the next week or two. There will be a total of five denominations each with it's own color scheme and there will also be a text area that will vary on each denom. I'm not sure where I will be sourcing the labels from just yet, so any input there will be appreciated. I do know that I want the same label material, construction and quality of printing that is found on the upcoming cigar and snifter ceramic chips from sidepot. I got a sample of those and didn't care for the chips at all, but absolutely loved the labels. They were head and shoulders above any samples I have received so far. Anyway, if there are any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
Thanks,
Joe Mags

Re: Looking to hire artist for custom labels
I'm not sure I understand your question. What I have is a concept and I can make rough sketches and such and what I need is someone to polish it and bring my ideas to life using my notes and direction etc... I may for instance show the name of my card room across the top of the chip, but it will only be a simple line font done on CAD or maybe even a simple (bad) hand drawing that I scan and email and I might have a notation that says "give me a nice rounded font here that has a western feel" "The font should be a deep blue with with a thin white outline and a drop shadow or something to give it dimension."
These are just examples mind you. I hope this was helpful.

Re: Looking to hire artist for custom labels
Hi Spike,
Thanks for the interest and the reply. I was only referencing that label in terms of it's physical properties which by the way does not come through from a photo. You really have to see those in person to appreciate them. They are really outstanding and do not look like a sticker or label even. They also have a very nice high end matte finish. In design terms, my concept will have a bit more to it with images/graphics and stuff. When I finish my rough out I will send you an email and we can explore from there.
Thanks again,
Joe Mags

Re: Looking to hire artist for custom labels
So the new Sidepot chips are hybrids (ceramic with recess & label)? Interesting. Not noted as such on the website, unless I totally missed it.
Joe @ PGI does hybrid chips, plus his laminated labels (glossy or linen finish) are top-notch, and are available either on his chips or by themselves. And he's a CT-sponsor.

Re: Looking to hire artist for custom labels
Thanks BGinGA. Yes, that is what the new Sidepot chips are. It's amazing though, how well it is done. Sidepot refers to them as inlays on their website but they are actually labels on ceramic chips. I was able to peel one right off with a pin. If those chips weren't so slick, I might have bought a set. Thanks for the info about Joe at PGI. I will be contacting him for some sample labels.

Re: Looking to hire artist for custom labels
Can anyone post some pics or point me to a post with pics of their chips that have the laminated labels from Joe at PGI.
Thanks,
