Toli,
Welcome to chiptalk!
The Forum Jump at top of the page can also help. My experience on the process:
Designer: this is money well spent IMO. You can go Forum Jump/Custom Chip Design - Request for Hire and post a topic describing your needs. Or contact via PM designers directly. Johnny5, machinelf, and mizuchaud have helped many; I think there may be others as well.
Use chip factory to create designs and make screen shots and post your mockups for input and advice.
Forum Jump/MarketPlace/Pokerchipsonline offers - this is the ASM company, you can check threads here for discount offers. Go to there web site for pricing, etc. email them once you are getting to the point of colors, spots, etc. Not all info is on the web site. here are some spots for CTers for 2010 in post #61 of this thread:

Join chiptalk as a supporter for $25 (have to do a search to find the thread or I can post later). It's the right thing to do and you get a 10% discount on your ASM chips.

Be sure to tell ASM you're a CTer.
Do a search for weighted and unweighted colors and figure out if you want unweighted colors as base colors in your ASM chips. I elected not.
Forum Jump/Custom Chip Gallery and read the ASM sets people have posted, learn about the various molds, etc. You'll be surprised at the things you'd never considered!
Order chips, wait a few months for their manufacture, and enjoy them the rest of your life
