I had, recently, been working with an artist that did custom work for BRPro. I was pleased with the work that Lynbark Designs did, but the artist confided with me that perhaps his skills were better suited for other designs than what I had dreamed up. Combine my unusual design request with the issues with BRPro chips, and ordering custom art through Lynbark/BRPro didn't pan out.
I'm building a custom set for my home game. The game is primarily white-chip limits and needs almost exclusively $1 chips with a little color-up space. I intend, in the future, to expand the set, but I'm only looking for a single design for $1 (and possibly $2 chips - in a complimentary color).
The overall "theme" for the set is pirate-based. While I may incorporate a Jolly Roger in higher denominations ($100's in black, anyone), the $1's (and possibly $2's) were supposed to be in the design of spanish dubloon or piece of eight. They would be "worn" or "aged" looking.
Or a more classic "pieces of eight" (which was actually intended to be broken into pieces to pay partial-coin values).
They would incorporate the basic old-world spanish design (squared cross), be circular or octagonal with a circular border, contain a TEXTUAL value "One Dollar" (or just "One" - to leave myself more flexability), my name "Stenger", and possibly some Ipsum Lorum text to art-out the design. They'd be silver (or gold) -- which would leave gold (or silver) to be the $2 chip. They'd also have to incoporate a mechanism for being poker chips. They'd have to support having "classic" edge spots, but still be able to be "old coin" looking.
Seperate front and back are optional.
I dont mind paying for art. I certainly don't mind paying for chips. While I had hoped to keep my cost (with the BRPros) under $0.80, I'm resigned to the fact that I might be paying more for Chipcos [Although ABC looks promising.]
