Chips: 4,628 | | | Biggest Loser Interest Thread I guess this would qualify as a contest...
I'd like to propose a weight loss competition to ChipTalk members. It would work much like the Biggest Loser show on TV. For those of you who do not watch: we pick a starting date and weigh ourselves on that date. The object is to lose the largest percentage of body weight possible before some predetermined end date. The winner is the person who loses the largest percentage of their body weight as determined on the last day of the competition.
My proposed guidelines (open for discussion):
1. Buy in is $25.
2. Start date 1/1/08.
3. End date 5/23/08 (Friday before Memorial Day / start of summer).
4. Official calculation = Weight Lost / Starting Weight.
5. Starting pictures required - Scale (and body?).
6. Winner takes all.
Any other thoughts? Any interest?

This season is couples and my wife and I have decided to play along with the show this time (I certainly need it more than she does!). |

You have to have body-pics. Front, side and back. The question is, how honest do you want to be about them? As covered up as possible, or as revealed as possible to really put the pressure on?
Will trainers be allowed, or is this all on our own? |

If you choose to use a trainer, or join a gym, or whatever, it's your option; but it would of course cut into your potential profits upon winning. Get gastric bypass if you want, I doubt this contest will pay for it though!
I may also be in, btw.

I'm not thrilled about it, but I know that when I lose a bunch of weight, I'll regret it if I do not have "before" pictures.
I am flexible about individual "body" shots. I'd hate to not have someone compete because they are uncomfortable posting their pics. I'll leave it up to the group to decide what is appropriate. I think that scale shots are non-negotiable. Quote:

I can hold it or I'm sure that someone like jojo will hold it for us. It really doesn't matter to me who holds the money, only that it is collected up front.

It would also save me the trouble of transferring money just to get it back later when I win .
Also, what exactly is a 'scale shot' anyway? Is it going to be possible to have a shot whereby the whole person AND the scale readout is showing? If it's just your feet, who's to say someone's not pushing down on their shoulders?
I guess we'll just have to go with the, er, honour system on that one.
