Re: ChipTalk Side Tourney 12/18/06 - $5 HORSE

Wow, that was intense! Congrats to Matt and Jim!

Eight minute levels aren't too bad but this structure sucks even more than having "somebody" hitting their straight on 7th street. The CT tourney ended on Level 9 (7-card stud) with a 60 ante and bets of 600/1200. By comparison, level 9 in a regular $10+$1 tourney is a 60 ante with bets of 300/600 (12-min levels). A $5+$0.50 SNG has the same 60/300/600 structure for level 9 but with 10-minute levels. The Turbo HORSE has also has the same 60/300/600 structure for level 9 but with 5-minute levels. Higher buy-in tourneys have even smaller increases in the structure.

Are we stuck with this structure?

Edited to correct terminology for limit games.

Re: ChipTalk Side Tourney 12/18/06 - $5 HORSE

PokerStars does not allow me to change the structures. The only choice for HORSE tourneys is the buyin amount.

Thanks, Chuck. I know you addressed this during the game as well. Even though I'm not crazy about the structure, I intend to keep playing with this great group.

Re: ChipTalk Side Tourney 12/18/06 - $5 HORSE

Comparison of P* and FTP for a private HORSE tourney

Format:
Level: P* SBet/BBet/Ante -- FTP SBet/BBet/Ante

1: 20/40/0 -- 30/60/0
2: 30/60/0 -- 40/80/0
3: 50/100/5 -- 50/100/10
4: 100/200/10 -- 60/120/10
5: 150/300/15 -- 80/160/15

6: 200/400/0 -- 100/200/0
7: 300/600/0 -- 120/240/0
8: 400/800/40 -- 150/300/25
9: 600/1200/60 -- 200/400/30
10: 800/1600/80 -- 250/500/40

11: 1200/2400/50 -- 300/600/0
12: 1600/3200/60 -- 400/800/0
13: 2000/4000/200 -- 500/1000/100
14: 3000/6000/300 -- 600/1200/100
15: 4000/8000/400 -- 800/1600/150

P* levels are 8 min.
FTP levels are 10 min.

Re: ChipTalk Side Tourney 12/18/06 - $5 HORSE

thanks for finding that info Marsha. I can attest it plays much much differently on ftp. I don't know if they do private tourney's, but if they do I would be game for switching up the HORSE tourney's.

It was fun because the CTers were all there, but honestly my cash was as much an(*sp) indication of winning the crap shoot as it was of skill.

i'll pitch in to help get anyone who needs it money into their ftp account (p* $ for FTP $).

Both structures in my previous post were taken from from private tourneys on their respective sites. (You need a password to play but not to view the details.)

The FTP forum has a thread on how to request a private tourney. It doesn't seem to cost anything. I'd be in favor of switching the CT HORSE tourneys to FTP to take advantage of their structure.

Somebody has a private $5+$0.50 HORSE double-stack ($3K) tourney set up for January. It's nice to know that DS tourneys are possible, although they'd probably run much too long for a weeknight tourney that crosses time zones.

I have enjoyed the CT HORSE tourneys on P*, but they really are crapshoots once you get past level 6.

Marsha

Switching to FTP is fine with me, I don't have an account there, but could set one up...
