Chips: 1,493 | | | Casinos In New England May be a dumb question, but I have a two day trip to Hartford area next week. Is that close to any of the NE Indian Casinos? If so, where should I go, and about how far from Hartford is it?
Thanks for any advice.
PS If this is not in the right place, Mods can move it. I couldn't find a category for casinos/poker rooms. |

From Hartford: Take I-84 East to Exit 55 Route 2 East. You will find the resort nine miles past Norwich. Drive time: 50 minutes.
Otherwise, they are both very cool casinos and almost photo negatives of one another in theme. Foxwoods=generic, Mohegan=VERY Native American themed.
Get a map at whichever you go to (they are about 10 minutes apart) or you'll never find your way around the place. Foxwoods is about a mile across and growing daily.

Chips: 409 | | | Re: Casinos In New England I've never been to Mohegan because of their lack of poker room, but Foxwoods is pretty nice. It has more of a 'mall' feel to it than other casinos I've been to though. The poker room is nice, but the ceiling is ridiculously low. There aren't any chip runners so after you get on the list, go to the cage next to the fifth street cafe and buy the chips you want for your game. High limit/No limit games are in the front of the room, low limit in the middle and stud games in the back. Tournaments and SnGs are held opposite the high limit games. You can't eat in the poker room anymore.
For low limits, they have 2/4 4/8 5/10 with a full kill. I know they have a 1/2 no limit game, but it's a bit of a rip off at $10/hr. house fee. The 2/5 is a better value at $12/hr. |

They had all kinds of spreads, and it was the first non-Vegas casino I've been to that had multiple tables of 7CS playing.
And though Mohegan Sun doesn't currently have a poker room - it's being built next year, though - it's worth a trip if you have the time, if only to pick up their One Buck chip.
