Is this the end of the line for the CT tourneies?

Gambling companies ready to suspend US business

http://www.silicon.com/retailandleis...9162891,00.htm

Well it looks like we are loosing more personal freedoms here in the land of the formerly free. I think we will be lucky to get one more tourney in before the plug gets pulled.

Not necessarily...

"Wow -- any CT member want to pay me $50 (or insert amount here) to look at a picture of a Canadian gopher? Cool -- just PayPal me the amount."

"Wow -- I forgot that the picture was of a 3-toed sloth, and not a gopher. Allow me to transfer the money to some account of yours... well, isn't that neat! We both have PokerStars (PartyPoker, UB, etc.) accounts -- it'll make it much easier for me to transfer the money there instead of refunding it through PayPal..."

Illegal? Probably. Will it work? Probably. Let's just hope it doesn't have to go that far...

Re: Is this the end of the line for the CT tourneies?

Actually this likely won't work as it looks like all of the major sites are going to close the accounts of US citizens.

Re: Is this the end of the line for the CT tourneies?

I still don't see the point, as I transfer my money to Neteller first and then to the gaming site. Neteller is not a gaming site so how can they stop that transaction. From there you can send the money wherever you want, and neteller is a Canadian Company so the US can't regulate them anyway. I'll wait and see but if Poker Stars does suspend my account thats fine, I can play locally I just want to make sure I can get my money out, but I'm not worried about that yet.

Any regulars who need a CDN address to continue play, just give me a shout.

On my accounts I have used a US address but my regular CDN phone number for verification, and it has worked so I assume the reverse will also be a viable option.

Re: Is this the end of the line for the CT tourneies?

I believe P*Stars is having tourneys for a dollar that they are preloading with like a 1000.00. By which you are consenting to a petition against this act.

Not sure what good this does, lessens my desire to go to a real casino. I don't want to learn while playing a $200 dollar tourney.

What casino is running live $1 buyin tournies?

Re: Is this the end of the line for the CT tourneies?

I hate to disagree with you Mega, but so far the only site that has actually said it will ban US players is Party. I don't have any idea whether P* is going to do the same, but I am hoping not.

Maybe I am just overly optimistic, but I can't see all poker sites banning all US players.

I understand your feelings, but for poker that doesn't help much because most of the fish are here. Who wants to play in a game full of sharks.
