what a night - it was tiltastic
For those who were not watching - I had somehow crawled back into the mix in the stud game after being on a short stack for some time. We had 4 players and the limits were pretty high - whomever caught cards was going to win. I managed to make myself shortstack again (like 1400 in chips - so not tooooo bad). SUPERWOOT - look down at rolled up fives. I just post the bring in - blogen raises and there is a reraise. I manage to get everything in on 4th st (maybe 5th) and sat back to watch the carnage.
Blogenhagendas kicks me to the curb (instead of tripling me up) when she spikes a FH on seventh. To grind it in a bit more - I made my boat too. Of course, pokerstars was twisting the knife in my back- she had no pair showing so I figured to be good no matter what.
OK - not so bad. I was also playing a 20 table MTT and was like 6th with 40 or so players left (thanks for stopping by and saying hi guys). No nutty play from me - I could sit back and wait for chips. Made one bad move against the loosest player imaginable (the - I will call two allins with Q9 OS - yea, thats a good idea player) and dropped to 9th. Still in good shape, but no cards or no action (flopped a nut flush and got no love). Floundering a little, 200/400 blinds and I could not get above 6000.
Break - and then bubble time. 300/600 blinds. I manage to steal my way to 9000, and am in like 14th.Blind steal gone bad - back to 6000.
UTG - and look down to see QQ. What a pretty sight (table was 6-7 handed at this point). No need to do anything but push (the table was fairly tight, so I had a good chance of just picking up the blinds/anties which would have been ok with me).
No such luck. Big stack in the BB (might have been the button, but no matter) thinks for a little bit (he had like 30K+), calls and flips up the incredibly powerfull QTos. I guess he thought that being OS gave the hand a more deceptive flavor.
Holy super domination woot batman. I could now cruse past the bubble - and probably vault to top 10 in chips.
Stars RNG had a different idea. I gues I needed to be slapped - as the BB flops the nut st8. Comcast was in on the joke too - as the internet connection froze the flop for a little while so that I could really appreciate how screwed I was - and then flips the turn and river in rapid fire, singaling no help for u pal.
what a night |

I saw the bad hand you had in the SNG that moved you from second chipleader to below average -- of course I kept my mouth shut because you don't want to type "how could he call with that?" (he had an inside broadway straight draw on paired board as I recall), but I did say it out loud. Really bad. I figured you would build up your stack, so I made a sandwich, checked back as I watched a little TV. I didn't see your knock-out hand but was very sorry to see you had bubbled.
As for those rolled up fives -- I had no idea you had such a strong hand. I thought you were making a move with split fives or high cards in hole or something else only semi-strong. So I called with my split tens. When I made two pair, pretty much all your money was in the pot, so of course I was calling. And then I rivered a ten for the better boat. That is one thing I love/hate about stud -- you can have a really strong hand that is almost totally concealed. Or a strong hand that is so obvious no one will play with you.
Anyway, sorry about your tournament -- you played it well from what I saw! | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
