I finally got around to reading the updates on cardplayer.com today about Day 3 of the WSOP ME.

When the TD announced they were close to the bubble, they started playing round by round. What does that mean?

Do they stop all play and tell all tables to start each hand at the same time? Does this happen every hand till the bubble is busted? I am guessing that is what it is to avoid confusing on exactly when the bubble bursts and the payouts start.

Every table plays the same round. If table one goes fold to the button who raises and picks up the blind, table one then waits for all the other tables to finish their hands. Then repeat.

This stops tables from making long calls and waiting for folks on other tables to go out so they make the money. Online it says, hand by hand at some sites.

When there are 90 tables left, hand for hand takes forever. So they decided to do round for round.

If say after the last orbit there were now 875 players left.

873 make the money.

5 players go out comprising of places 875 to 871.

3 spots would get paid. They take the money for those 3 spots and divide it amongst those 5 players.

It could end up sucking if a lot of people get knocked out when they hit the money because you could possibly win less than your buy-in. It does speed up things a little though.
