I have a friend that says Limit Omaha Hi is just a game of suckouts. He doesn't understand that the best hand on the flop usually isn't the best hand on the river and its almost impossible to drive out strong draws while playing limit. Be wary of those strong hands on the flop without redraws.
Here is the my cliff notes version of advice on preflop selection though I should preface this with the fact that I don't play much Omaha Hi.
Play well coordinated hands. With 4 cards, its not just like playing 2 holdem hands but upto 8 different hands. Take for example AcKsTs9c. This hand has 7 combinations not counting the possibilities of trips or boats with the right board:
Str8s - AcKs, AcTs , KsTs (flushed), Ks9c (scary) and Ts9c
Flushes - Ac9c, KsTs
Personally, I don't like playing with low cards and tend to stay only with those hands holding 8s and higher. Also, I want hands that make at least 3 - 4 hands or are strong in just a few ways AcAsKdTh. Don't fall in love with hands holding just AA like AA85r. Be leery of flopped str8s on a 2 suited board especially if you are OOP; someone(s) will always call your bet. Sometime checking the flop is a better option as few folks fold to the smaller flop bet and this can give someone pot odds to call the bet on the turn if the flush misses; pot management.
Hopefully I can make this one tonight.
