Chips: 39,043 | | | CONTEST: Free Framed Pharaoh's for the best ChipTalk screensaver This is inspired by the "old Vegas" sccreensaver at http://www.oldvegaschips.com/ovcscreensaver.htm. I thought we should have a screensaver for ChipTalk, that includes photos of the designs of chips that originated here.
This is an impromptu contest, so there are no deadlines set yet. Feel free to discuss which chip designs are considered original to members of this board. I'll keep a running total of the ones that we all agree on. I'd say personal customs don't count, there'd be too many to list. - Egyptians
- Pharaoh's Club
- American Beauties
- Deadwoods
- Key West
- Samurais
Winner gets one of these, shipped: |

Or would we be responsible for obtaining chips and photographing for our own content?
Never have made a screen saver, but like the challenge.

Chips: 3,007 | | | Re: CONTEST: Free Framed Pharaoh's for the best ChipTalk screensaver I have been playing around with a couple of things,
Found this and have tried a test project, works well with a flash file. Free for non commercial use. http://www.tenmiles.com/screenswift/index.php
I also have been playing with a small project in C#, I haven't done too much graphics programming but it does promise to be more dynamic.. can dump graphics in a folder or download from a chiptalk directory.. Were as the flash is static once it is generated that's it.
a template project is available here. http://www.codeproject.com/csharp/scrframework.asp
Visual Studio 2005 has a screen saver template, which can be used but it seems geared towards, RSS feeds. I can look into if this is desired functionality.

I would love a screen saver that had the tikkis or VAR's chess chips, or Finns, or Spacemonkey's chips, etc in addition to the commercially available chips and the antique chips.

L | Yes indeed! If the screensaver features chips, I'd like it to include members' personal custom chips.

All you have to do is open your control panel, select display properties, then screen saver. Select "my pictures slide show," then open properties and set the "use pictures from this folder" to wherever you have the pictures stored. Once this is done you can edit other properties to get it to display the way you want.
