Re: Introducing the ChipTalk Tilters

Great post. Very informative. I'm starting to better understand the concept.

Re: Introducing the ChipTalk Tilters

Thanks for the post dubya. I definitely missed the 5 players a day. When I looked at the events, I saw five tournaments, but not the fact that they were all Round 1.

You explained the payout "problem" very well too. I suppose another way to manipulate the payouts (if you want them even) is to ask people to withdraw some of their winnings out of the team wallet.

I do not really think that it is a problem, but everyone needs to see the math before they start playing. I am all for having everyone sign up for an event that we are playing in- even though they may not be able to participate (heck, they may end up being the last minute player fro the last event - you never know). The teams can even this out once a quarter - or whenever they want to.

The "share" aspect can be used to reward someone as well. The 1% bunuses can add up (they give an award to the winner of each individual event). So the guys who are on a roll and taking 1sta lot get a little extra $$$ for their efforts.

Standard disclaimer - I am not a part of the tilter team. Any decisions on how you run your team are your own.

Can the 5 players per day be different for the week of events?
I could see problems if not... e.g. Chipper can't play Tues & I know my wife's not going to go for a tourney every night outside of other things that come up... seems like a full 10 is definitely needed??

The 5 players can be any combination of those that signed up. The captain can change the players assigned to the specific event up to 20 minutes prior to the start of the tourney (double check the time, this is from memory).

Example - there are 7 players signed up for a 3 day weekend tournament (you have to sign up befoer the captt can commit teh team). It is almost full - and the captain cannot wait for anyone else to commit before registering.

So he registers. Those 7 players pay an equal amount of $$$ form their share of the wallet. They are also the only ones who will profit from a cash in the tournament.

The capt then assigns players to each round and tournamen. He can assign the same 5 guys each day - or split it up so that all 7 get at least 2 days.

if you only have 4 for one night - then there is an automatic loss. I do not see if they let you sit - and be blinded out, or if you are considered dead last if you do not play.

What I thinkl we will be doing is the following.

When upcoming events are posted, the 1st player to register also places a recomment tag on the event. Then, they register and start a new forum post. In that post they list the nights that they can play. The capt can then look over the schedule and see if they have enough coverage to play.

It helps to have full teams. I know that some people have a lot of free time. Some of us are marired with children and have to juggle.

It looks like they are just starting this concept - so I would bet that they will be adding different structures in the future (shorter timespans or less tournaments/day).

I would steer away from the eliminators for the time being. Out team has several strong headsup players, but risking a team buyin on one headsup match does not thrill us too much yet. Need some wins under the belt.

Re: Introducing the ChipTalk Tilters

Looks like the next two Tuesdays have freed up so I can play most every weeknight during the next two weeks! Christmas weekend is shot so no poker for me, but otherwise GAME ON!

Re: Introducing the ChipTalk Tilters

w16227 - Makes a good point about staying away from the eliminators.

We do have the possibility of losing money, Though ,I think most of the players on the team are stronger than people I have come across playing online.

Having said that, I am able to afford $50.00 a month towards my hobby. I'm actually quite a bit in the black, for the year but I would rather let everyone know if we weren't breaking even, this would be what I would be willing to contribute per month to continue playing.

Re: Introducing the ChipTalk Tilters

I'll scan Pokerroom daily to see when they decide to post some team events. I should be available for a weekend event should it happen.

Anyone know of any team events coming up? The "Find an Event" link never seems to list future events. Makes it difficult to plan - don't ya think?

Also I read in the Pokah! Forums that some teams are having trouble getting into events. Apparently there is a glitch that affects some teams. You need to be in the lobby at least 5 minutes before an event that you got a ticket to. Even then, you may not be successful in getting seated. Once you sign up for an event you really gotta be there else you hurt your team big time if you don't show or you can't get into the table.

Hopefully this glitch will be resolved soon.

I just wish they'd get the future events posted about 2 weeks in advance so that we could plan this a bit better. I suppose they reward teams who stay logged on all day and check the event list. Typically, only the 1st 20 teams or so get to play in these events. Sign up early!!!
