2006 WSOP Chiptalker

I just found this on EBAY and it got me to thinking.

http://cgi.ebay.com/WORLD-SERIES-OF-...QQcmdZViewItem

We should be able to sell 1000 shares @ $10 each here and send one of our own to the WSOP. (of course to promote chiptalk) All shareholders will definately be able to follow the 2006 WSOP with extra excitement. And who knows maybe we get lucky.

We could award the actual trip to the winner of a series of tournaments. Just an idea! I would definately be in for a few shares. Alot of details to work-out but I think its worth consideration.

!

I can see it now. We make tons of banners saying "Win a WSOP 2006 Sponsership!" put them up on a bunch of sites, cut a deal with Pokerstars for some of the profits generated from the series of tournaments AND we find the best player to sponser .

Re: 2006 WSOP Chiptalker

Great suggestion jojo.

But we should get a few more "shares" to allow for expenses, something like $12-13K total.

Doubt you'd get that many to go in. No harm in thinking about how to make it work, though.

Good idea - but stars will never cut a deal for this. They will already be sending 2500+ players to the event on their own. They do not even have an affilae program.

The only "deal" that you can possibly get would be to "sell" merchandising/apparel rights. The player would become one of the walking pokerstars/other site's billboards. I do not know if it is open to just anyone, but lat year some players were able to cover travel/lodging by agreeing to wear the gear.

With the larger field expected for this year - I would not think that the sites would still do much of this. At some point - they will figure out that they really only need 2500 billboards - not 2501.

In any case - I would be in for buying "shares" of one of our own, as long as we have a concrete method of choosing the player set in stone prior to asking for $$$.

The weekly tournament standings are a decent method. Maybe set up a timeframe (like Jan through May or whatever) for the WSOP contest.

Doubt you'd get 1000 people at $10 a piece, but maybe 200 people at $50. I'd be in. Tournament leader for January through May is a good way to pick the winner too.

Re: 2006 WSOP Chiptalker

Scratch that. I guess if your selling shares, one person could buy 5 shares for $50 bucks. So, nevermind.

We would probably have to have this posted in the "group buy" area to gauge interest and provide initial "rules" for the player selection (and elgibility).

There should also be some form of "backing" agreement. Say if CT members do raise like $12K or $13K to cover the entry and travel, the player themselves get some % of the winnings off of the top. Typical backing agreements are on the order or 50%, but since this is more of a contest - would 25% be a good idea?

Example - the player just cashes and gets 15K. The initial 13K is split up between the backers (the initial investment is always paid off 1st). $500 is given to the player, and the $1500 is then split to the shareholders.

There could even be a sliding scale based on results. Like he (or she) gets an extra 10% bonus for making the final table.

There would also have to be some sort of escrow account set up for the $$$. The money would have to be collected in advenced - so there are no last minute dropouts.

Just thinking
