Re: CT.net Poker Team! Calling all card players...

I heve been on pokerroom for a year or so...but I do not play often enough to be a good contributer to a team. However, do you think the weekly CT tournaments could be held on pokerroom? Its one of the only sites for us mac users.

that's an issue to take up elsewhere, as in with chipper and the other 60 or so guys that play regularly. my guess is that you'll meet with a resounding no, because of how inconvenient it'll be for many to switch over.

I posted chippers original thread over on the Scott Keen Forum. Hoping we can get some interest and competition.

Hope you don't mind chipper.

edit about how much we need: most buyins look to be $50. if we get 10 owners at $50 each, then we're each paying $5 per event (which would include a SNG per player). that seems pretty reasonable to me.
The way I read it, I think the team captain has to register us for tourneys. Is this not the case? BTW, They seem to have SNGs all this week at 9pm & 10pm eastern.

Re: CT.net Poker Team! Calling all card players...

I think if you go with the A/B team idea, you're going to have to do option 2, otherwise you will end up with one very strong team and one not so strong team. Wouldn't it be better to have 2 relatively equal strength teams?

option 1: we have an A team and a B team. the strongest ten players (decided in some way not specified as of yet) will make up the A team, and the B team gets the players that are not on the A team

option 2: we choose two strong players that want to manage teams, and do a draft, making, ideally, two relatively even teams.

what do you guys think?

that depends on what the goal of the teams are. if it's to have fun and stuff, then definitely #2. if it's to put together the best possible team, then option #1.

i'm neither here nor there on the subject.

Well if its to put together the best possible team and option #1, then there's no point in having a B team.

Re: CT.net Poker Team! Calling all card players...

I agree that if the goal is to put forth the best possible team to represent CT, then there isn't a need for a Team A and a Team B. Take the 10 "best" players (however you decide to determine that) and form one team.

again, i don't have a position on this, but i disagree. the B team could exist b/c poker is fun, and competing as a team is fun too. it's like saying that b/c duke university has a kickass basketball team, there's no point in having intramurals.

of course there's a point, it's just a bit of a different point.
