Re: Rate Your Poker Skills

I have not played enough with you all to comment on anyone else, but I will rate myself. Like a lot of people I think Highly of my own skills

Aggressiveness: 7
Looseness: 3 (though I do change gears some especially late)
Tournaments Overall: 7
Tournament - early stages: 6
Tournament - late stages: 8
Short-handed: 7
Cash games: 6
Steam control: 4
Personal Chip Design: 3

I do occasionally suffer when I go on tilt. I will usually really tighten my play when on tilt to help keep me from getting in trouble, but it does not always work

Better than average, but not by a lot. I play too many hands.
I've made the final table once at the chiptalk thursday tourney, but I haven't played the CT tourney in over a month.

Re: Rate Your Poker Skills

Awesome! According to these ratings, I'm playing in the "Negraneau/Hansen" mold! I always thought that my play lacked creativity and was easy to read.

Seriously, I would have thought I would rate more along these lines (Darv's ratings in parentheses):

VARoadstter

Aggressiveness: 9 ( 8 ) I definitely "bring the heat"

Looseness: 7 ( 8 ) Maybe the perception is based on me getting better than avg cards?
Tournaments Overall: 6 ( 7 ) I would like to rate myself up there, truth is I don't deserve much more than "a hair above average".
Tournament - early stages: 4 ( 5 ) I take hands too far and bust myself a lot. Needs improvement.
Tournament - late stages: 7 ( 7 ) When I can smell the money I usually fare pretty well.
Short-handed: 4 ( 6 ) I think I'm below average here.
Cash games: 7 ( 7 ) Overall, I can put a hurt on people's stacks in cash games.
Steam control: 7 ( 6 ) I've gotten better. Being publicly shamed here has been a blessing.
Personal Chip Design: 7 ( 8 ) I like my chips, but I like some of the others a lot better!

Re: Rate Your Poker Skills

Remember - you said rate yourself here. I am also basing this on my typical tournament and cash game range. I play up to $50 tournaments and 3/6 cash games.

Aggressiveness: 9*
Looseness: 5*
Tournaments Overall: 8
Tournament - early stages: 6
Tournament - late stages: 9
Short-handed: 8
Cash games: 8
Steam control: 8
Personal Chip Design: n/a

* I try to ratchet these in different directions at times. But you will rarely see me limp if I am first in.

Re: Rate Your Poker Skills

Yeah, anyways, here would be mine if I were rating myself.
  • Aggressiveness: 2 - I'm afraid to raise preflop without something good, I bet like a pud after the flop and give up too quick.
  • Looseness: 1 - Do I really need to say anything?
  • Tournaments Overall: 4 - If the tournament ended at the first break, I'd give myself a 10.
  • Tournament - Early Stages: 9 - Playing like a pud has it's advantages early - I'm usually in pretty good shape at break #1.
  • Tournament - Late Stages: 2 - I'm too afraid to play the right way in these stages. (I blow $50 in one roll at the craps table, but I'm afraid to lose an $11 buy-in???) If I don't get cards, I'm done.
  • Short-Handed: 4 - Ditto, but not as bad.
  • (Limit) Cash Games: 7 - I hold my own at limit.
  • Steam Control: 9 - It takes a lot more than the worst beat of all time to make me stop folding every hand.
  • Personal Chip Design: n/a

Re: Rate Your Poker Skills

Aggressiveness: 7 - More than average.
Looseness: 6 - I like to mix up my plays but I don't take unnecessary risks.
Tournaments Overall: 6 - With a good stack, I seldom do badly.
Tournament - early stages: 4 - I laydown good hands to make it into the money.
Tournament - late stages: 7 - Once in the money, I play my best poker.
Short-handed: 8 - Pretty good, by now, I have a good read on the players.
Cash games: 3 - I'm in grind mode to prevent losing money: not my style.
Steam control: 9 - To me it's a game, bad beats are part of it. Doesn't affect me.
Personal Chip Design: 1 - I can't even use photoshop. I would like to see more $100 black chips with gold edgespots.

I'm thinking I still have a bit of work to do before I die. I'll post my self rating below.

Chipper
Aggressiveness: 6 - fair enough, could be better for sure.
Looseness: 3-5: Depends on the situation and position, usually more on the tight side
Tournaments Overall: 5 - if last quarter is any indication. Only in da money once, worse compared to Q1
Tournaments Early: 7 - fair enough, tight but aggressive early on
Tournaments Late: 4-5, I'm taking lessons from jojo on this - soon to be 6-7.
Short Handed: 7 - I'm playing a lot of single table SNGs and getting some good results here. Its the middle game that needs most work.
Steam Control: It takes a lot to get me on Tilt. Have to get sucked out on many times in a row for it to show.
Cash Games: Aren't they all for cash? Lol.
Personal Chip Design: I've done personal labels for my NexGens - see chip label forum for my pics. At least I like em.

Thanks for your assessment - nice to get anothers point of view.
