Chips: 1,577 | | | ChipTalk "Border Wars" - Interest? Due to Lumpy's insertion of an American flag into the Canadian chip design forum, I was wondering if there would be any interest in holding a "Border Wars" tournament series?
In order not to conflict with the regular ChipTalk tournament, it could be held on a monthly basis. Points would be awarded, and a country total would be calculated. After a certain number of tourneys, bragging rights would be given to the winning country (ie. Canada).
Preliminary teams would be: Team Canada, Team USA, and Team Europe (have to include those who live across the pond).
So... any interest? |

This kind of builds from an earlier thread where there was some discussion about a Fantasy Poker league where members from the board would form teams (maybe have a draft?) and compete. I like it, it is a neat idea and depending on how you wanted to handle it it would not be very difficult to get going.
To test it out you could start with the Border Wars being incorporated into the CT events; you could have the first CT tourney of each month count as the Border Wars tournament. With a seperate points structure and everything to keep it seperate, but the results from the CT event would be used for scoring. Before each game teams would pick 4 representatives or something like that. Add a rule so that the same player could not be used twice until every member on the team has been scored and there you go.

Regional lines would be great if there's enough interest - 4 US regions, 2 Canadian regions (West, East), and 1 or 2 "foreign" regions. If there wasn't enough representation, then we could always go back to a "country vs. country" thing.
Fins, if you could use your Fraper's Map to outline the regions, I'll edit the first post to make regional "rosters". If enough people want in, we might be able to have the first event in 2-3 weeks. |
