Chips: 10,507 | | | Hard Rock, Las Vegas, NV - Valentine's Day 2008 As announced by Mr. Mike Decker of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, over on TheChipBoard.com, the Hard Rock will be releasing a 2008 St. Valentine's Day, Limited Edition (2,500) $5 gaming chip on Friday, 10 April at 10:00 am.
Please note. If you are planning on being there, participants will begin lining up at the designated location (usually to the left of the Main Cage) prior to 9:00 am. At 9:00 am, a line monitor will pass out numbers to everyone in line. At that point the line breaks up and reforms at 10:00 am for the chip release. During that hour the cage calculates the demand for chips and estimates how many each person with a number is allowed to buy. At 10:00 the line moves smartly past the cage and usually within 30 minutes it is over with. Once you are served, you may rejoin the line (at the end) to buy another allotment of chips, if any remain. If you are interested in assuring yourself of at least one chip, then be certain to be there just in time to get a number (9:00 am) and then an hour later (when the line reforms) be sure you take your turn!
Please note #2. There will be two chips released on this day, at this same time for the new restaurant at the Hard Rock, AGO.
This artwork depicts the two chips being released. Both appear to be Paul-Son made, probably in the customary H&C mold, normally used by the Hard Rock.
I'd suspect that these chips will be available through the usual Las Vegas New Issue Service concerns.

I'm a newbie, and don't follow these things, but Is it unusual that their chip release is so far behind the actual occasion? |

Did I say that out loud?
Just joking...

The fact that they are late will have no real impact to value. At one time, the Hard Rock always had problems with on-time releases. If you look at their chips, you will see that they can be wrought with licensing issues. They ofetn have artwork of copyrighted logos, or song lyrics from copyrighted songs, and sometimes the copyright release is not punctual.
Also, there could have been a delivery issue with Paul-Son, assuming that GPI is still their vendor of choice. Also, the chip could have been held up by Gaming and their requisite approval. Perhaps the Hard Rock had the date set for the AGO release and when they finally got the Valentine's Day chips they may have held off on an earlier release to make things simpler.
However, it is important to their bottom line to produce and release LE's, as it's money in the bank, even if they are late in being released.
