1993 MGM $25 5th Anniversary chip

I found one in my stack at the MGM...its used but in good condition. What is the approximate value? When I get back home I will post a picture.

Re: 1993 MGM $25 5th Anniversary chip

Gonna need to see a pic but the book I have has 2 different ones listed.

One worth $75 another at $1000

This coming from "The Official U.S Casino Chip Price Guide" 3rd edition, a little out dated but still the most recent.

Once you get a pic I can tell you for sure what the book lists it at.

Re: 1993 MGM $25 5th Anniversary chip

HOLD ON THERE!!!

Mason ID'd the chip as being a "1993 MGM $25 5th Anniversary". While the MGM opened (at that location) in 1993 (and the date appears on the chip) the chip was released in 1998 for the 5th Anniversary as a Limited Edition chip.

The Campiglia/Wells (Official) guide (3rd Edition) does not list Limited Edition chips (with very few exceptions, this NOT being one of them). While there is a reference in the C/W guide for two $25 chips as a primary and backup 1st issue chip (in 1993) I can see where the date given in this post could be extrapolated to be the date of the release, even though it still says 5th Anniversary. (Those two $25's are valued at $75 and $1,000, respectively.)

The Chip Rack (TCR) on the other hand, does list Limited Edition chips and this $25 5th Anniversary chip is listed as TCR #V4926 and carries a value of "H" ($30 - $39) in new condition.

Mason, I regret to have to inform you that in used condition, it is worth about $25 - $29. Sorry Jeremy.

This is what the chip looks like. The white specks on the blue inserts are a light reflections of the scanner off the aluminum flecks in the insert. The body of the chip (green) and the yellow inserts do not have aluminum specks, only the blue inserts.

Jim (Gaming Ore) Follis.

Re: 1993 MGM $25 5th Anniversary chip

I could be easily worth $900. Take the chip to the MGM and walk up to a roulette table. Pick a number and place the chip on the number. If the number comes up... viola.... 875 plus your original 25.

You forgot the mention. If that 25 is not the one then try another, you'll hit it one day.

LOL...you guys are funny. Thanks for the info...its a keeper and a welcome addition to my collection. I don't gamble so the R-wheel is out of the question.

I'm still mad at you for not showing it to me when I met you at the MGM.
