Chips: 2,568 | | | Lady Luck Casino Cruises info needed I just received this 43mm beauty from someone, and I'm looking for verification of the only info I've found on it so far:
Description courtesy "Ships & Chips":
"Previously know[n] as the Dixie Duck and Paradise this ship began [sailing] as Lady Luck Dec, 2003 from Captree State Park, NY and ceased operations Oct, 2004 after many problems, damage by hurricane and vandalism."
As you can see on the S&C page, that description is for the equally awesome .50¢ chip that appears to be a different design than the chips listed as being from Florida (the $5 and $25; I sent him a scan of this chip to add to his page at some point). I'm willing to believe it is from Florida; however, except for the S&C page, I find no supporting evidence of a Florida connection. A Google search for that casino only shows the S&C site; Yahoo only shows the defunct New York casino page; and Wiki doesn't have anything about either. So until I see evidence to the contrary, Fort Pierce, New York it is.
Von? Jim? Anyone else?

The Lady Luck was the same boat as the Dixie Duck and sailed from Florida. This is some of the casinos that used that boat, Mr Lucky's, Dixie Duck, Dixie Duck 2(Coastal Gaming), and Lady Luck was the last one. The boat was left in the marsh in the Keys after a hurricane and left there till it burned last year. I think the boat wreckage is still there. The Lady Luck rack hasnt surfaced yet. The chip is very nice and if ya ever want to get rid of it, PLEASE LMK
I will give ya some more info when i get home and look it up in my Florida chip book. |

Chips: 612 | | | Re: Lady Luck Casino Cruises info needed Ok Rose, im finally home and ive looked up the info in my Florida chip book. It says that the Lady Luck started sailing from Captree State Park in New York in December 2003. The boat then went to Ft Pierce Florida after running into trouble in NY. In June 2004 the boat was damaged after hitting another boat. After that repair the boat was damaged again in July 3rd 2004. The boat was moved for repairs and during that time hurricane Wilma stranded the boat in the mangroves in the Keys. The boat was belived to be ransacked and the chips were most likley taken. The boat later caught fire sometime last year. What the book doesnt say but i beleive the boat is still stranded in the mangroves.
Reference the chip, it is not listed in the Florida book so yours may be the first one that has been seen in the collectors market. Since there is a $1000 then there must be a $500 witch i also have never seen. For a price, it would be hard to price. If it is the only one that pops up it could be a pricy chip. If more are found then the price would drop. Day cruise chips are tough to put a value on because rare chips sometimes become common very quick when the rack comes out. An example is the high denom Harbor Lights and the Southern Elegance. Last year i would of paid about $40 for a $25 from the Harbor Lights but now if i needed it i would pay about $5 to $10. Regardless of what its worth, for now its a definate "nice find" and i would hold on to it!! As it stands right now, there arent many of any denoms from the Lady Luck out there! |

Chips: 2,568 | | | Re: Lady Luck Casino Cruises info needed Awesome, thanks again. At first I wondered why there would be a NYC skyline for a Florida chip; then I remembered that Sun Cruz, for instance, shares chips between its Florida and Myrtle Beach day cruises, so I guess it's not too far fetched. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
