I have the Official US Casino Chip Price Guide and what it says on these chips. I have seen these several times before in the past yr or so especially the black $1. Is there a story on these? A hidden stash that is slowly being released? Unfortunately the auctions are ending pretty soon, but hopefully someone can chime in. Any info that might be known would be appreciated.

I am fairly certain a quantity of La Rue chips have recently been discovered. There have certainly been a lot on ebay over the last 6 months or so.

I picked my $1 up for $50 off the Chipboard a couple of months ago but they have still been going for a lot more than that on ebay.

There were a small quantity of the chips found. Enough to bring the value down but not substantially (not like a horseshoe chip). Great chips if you want to pick up a nice one. Some of the denoms were found in fewer quantities but they were all on sale at the convention this year.

Thanks Jim for the link. I have been seeing more and more of these on e-bay. In fact if you do a search right now you will find 2 of the $1's and 1 ea of the 25¢ and 50¢.

I know I should proceed with caution, but what exactly does this mean in a situation like this. I am relatively new to collecting. I am sure you have seen this type of situation before. What typically happens to prices over they upcoming months and years. Should I just wait a year or more? will prices stabilize? Any idea of how many the entire rack might be?

Just looking for a little education on a situation like this.............
