Crystal Park Casino Chip Set Valuation?

Hiyas.

I originally was directed to these forums by the TwoPlustwo guys who said this would be a great place to learn how to clean a home-game set of chips I picked up around seven years ago. At the time I couldn't find any decent clay poker chips for sale in the UK so I bought a load from a site on the internet, had them sent to my cousin in New York and picked them up next time I went to visit her as the shipping costs to the UK were horrendous. (Funny thing was she forgot I told her to expect them so she got very confused when seventy odd thousand dollars worth of seemingly legitimate casino chips turned up at her doorway one day).

Now, looking through these forums, it appears the grubby set of chips I bought ages ago may actually be collectable after all. So I was wondering am I getting my hopes up or are these chips not as valuable as I thought? I would still want to keep them for my home games regardless as they're rather attractive, but I may need to insure them, it seems.

So if anyone could help my set is as follows...

1$ x 125
2$ x 50
3$ x 50
5$ x 100
20$ x 40
25$ x 75
100$ x 50 - grey and biege
500$ x 5 - red and green (serials 0010 (!) , 0561, 0665, 0879, 1988 ) (sorry about the smiley, system didn't like the 8 and the ) next to each other)
1000$ x 5 - navy with green/gold (serials 0549, 0550, 0560, 1442, 1443)

Any guesses gratefully received.

PS And no, I am definitely not selling or trading any of them. But thanks for asking

Re: Crystal Park Casino Chip Set Valuation?

Thanks for the speedy response, Legend.

The $25s are the 8 red stripe variety so if your figures are accurate this lot is worth $2350 or more? Gods, I may never play with them again if they are worth that much

Question though, any idea if the 0010 serial $500 would have a premium for being such a low number?

Re: Crystal Park Casino Chip Set Valuation?

I concur, but there are those who say nay. The $20's are what makes your set so appealing.

Re: Crystal Park Casino Chip Set Valuation?

Fox,

What you can do is sale all of your CP. Take the fund and buy yourself a different set, in that way you don't feel like it is too expensive to put CP to play.

You could get PNY's set for $500 and save $1700 for some thing else.....

The collectors win and you too.

No I don't have any of the CP chips......and not planning on purchase them.

NF

Re: Crystal Park Casino Chip Set Valuation?

To be honest, they're a tad scummy because, as I said, I originally came on here to try to find out how to clean them. But I may take a few snaps this weekend if you really want to see them.

I found some bio-cleaner made in the UK which seems to do the trick as well as pipeshield so with a bit of luck they'll be sparkly soon. Haven't yet read up on the correct type of oil to use though. But I am moving to a new house in a few weeks time so hopefully they'll be put to good use then.
