Going rate for Paulson New Yorkers $2.50s and $20s

What seems to be the going rate for individual President New Yorker chips - particularly the $2.50's and $20's? I've looked at ChipTalk sales and completed eBay auctions, but I wasn't able to find much info on these denominations. Here is what I found overall:

$1: $1.25-$1.50/chip
$2.50: ???
$5: $1.05-$1.45/chip
$20: ???
$25: $1.15-$1.45/chip
$100: $1.20-$2.25/chip
$500: $4.50-$6.00/chip
$1000: $18/chip

Let me know if I'm off on these figures - but I think they are accurate. Previously, I was valuing the $2.50's and $20's at $4-$5/chip, but I wasn't sure if this was still true.

Also, should there be any difference between trade value and sales value on these? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I'd say your pretty close. The $2.50 and $20's both go for $4-5 range.
Only question from your list is that TOP range of the $100's. Never seen them go for over $2 per.

Best of luck,

Stock

Re: Going rate for Paulson New Yorkers $2.50s and $20s

Thanks, Stock.

Glad to hear that I'm not too off.

I was surprised to see that the $100's (in quantity) sold for over $2/each on an eBay auction (not including shipping). I'm sure that it was not reflective of typical pricing - but they sold at that price

By the way, still looking to trade five $2.50's for five $500primaries.

I've been wondering these prices myself, Brando, so thanks for starting the thread.
Is there much of a price difference between primary and secondary of each type - specifically the 1000s? Anyone know?

Mike

These prices depend greatly on the quantity that you are purchasing. Purchasing in racks of 100, you should pay the following (approximately):

$1: $130
$2.50: $400
$5: $130
$20: $400
$25: $130
$100: $150
$500: $500
$1000: $1600

(prices do not include shipping)

Re: Going rate for Paulson New Yorkers $2.50s and $20s

I'm certainly no expert, but I started this thread to help validate my observations regarding New Yorker pricing.

Since I already have my set put together - I've basically only been following the prices of singles and small quantities. However, I can say with some confidence that there has not been a significant difference in the selling price of primary and secondary $25 and $100 chips.

The primary versions of both the $500 and $1000 chips, however, seem to have a premium associated with them compared to their secondary counterparts - approximately $0.50-$1.25 on the $500's and at least $5 on the $1000's. However, this observation only applies to sales - as I believe that most people value these denominations the same when trading because they were produced in equal numbers.

With that said, I think there is this perception that the primaries sell for more than the secondaries - especially since they are more brightly colored. As mentioned, I haven't really noticed it for the $25 and $100 denominations.

I should add that the $1000's have dropped in price as of late. Five months ago the $1000primary was easily fetching $30/each - but lately they have been struggling to hit $25/each. The $1000secondaries seem to be getting $15-$18 regularly - whereas I remember seeing them fetch slightly over $20/each five months ago.

In short, I would say that, somewhat paradoxically, the denominations found in greater quantity ($1, $5, $25, $100) have appreciated in value much more noticably than those denominations that were produced in smaller quantities.

Thanks for the further info. I asked because I have two 1000s the same and was going to trade one for the one I don't have. I think I have two primaries.

I would say the $500's Primary are ranging from ($6.50-$7.25) per chip.
Seen a number go for these prices on Ebay.

Re: Going rate for Paulson New Yorkers $2.50s and $20s

Anybody have a guess as to what the common denominations might be going for in a couple of years? Do you think prices will be comparable to what the vineyards are going for now?

Just wondering if I should stock up on some extra racks.
