I'm certainly no expert, but I started this thread to help validate my observations regarding New Yorker pricing.
Since I already have my set put together - I've basically only been following the prices of singles and small quantities. However, I can say with some confidence that there has not been a significant difference in the selling price of primary and secondary $25 and $100 chips.
The primary versions of both the $500 and $1000 chips, however, seem to have a premium associated with them compared to their secondary counterparts - approximately $0.50-$1.25 on the $500's and at least $5 on the $1000's. However, this observation only applies to sales - as I believe that most people value these denominations the same when trading because they were produced in equal numbers.
With that said, I think there is this perception that the primaries sell for more than the secondaries - especially since they are more brightly colored. As mentioned, I haven't really noticed it for the $25 and $100 denominations.
I should add that the $1000's have dropped in price as of late. Five months ago the $1000primary was easily fetching $30/each - but lately they have been struggling to hit $25/each. The $1000secondaries seem to be getting $15-$18 regularly - whereas I remember seeing them fetch slightly over $20/each five months ago.
In short, I would say that, somewhat paradoxically, the denominations found in greater quantity ($1, $5, $25, $100) have appreciated in value much more noticably than those denominations that were produced in smaller quantities.

Is there much of a price difference between primary and secondary of each type - specifically the 1000s? Anyone know?
