Chips: 110 | | | Matsui- Company Samples A while back when I was just crawling into the world of chip collecting, I contacted Matsui about a custom order and they sent me 17 chip style samples and some roulette chips. Does anyone think there would be any demand for such a thing? See, if I were to try and sell them, I'm not sure what they might fetch or what to ask for them. Should take best offer of is that a good way to get jerked? Scans will follow, but I'm just looking for advice right now. Any ideas? |

Are you asking what price you should get for free samples of Matsui Chips? |

On a serious note, if you received any of the Gold chips (green or red 25g chips) you can easily get $8 if not close to $20 for just 1 of those chips. I purchased a small set of Matsui samples for around $25. It include 2 Gold chips (green & red) and like 6 coin centered chips. |

Chips: 32 | | | Re: Matsui- Company Samples And I gave away a set of Matsui decals (including 43 mm chips) to a potential participant in the Matsui Group Buy so that he had a chance to actually handle the chips before comitting to a buy... And before that I gave away a full Abbiati sample set of app. 40 chips to a member because she really liked them and I had no need..
Call me foolish if you like - I just thought other members might as well benefit from these samples

Chips: 10,507 | | | Re: Matsui- Company Samples Generally speaking, manufacturer samples of chips run around $1 - $5 each. Yes, there are exceptions, but generally speaking you can get about $5 for fancier ones and less for plain ones. Super fancy, like the Matsui 'brass' core styled chips, or oversized chips will run a bit more.
Do you have scans or pics of the chips?

Chips: 10,507 | | | Re: Matsui- Company Samples Here is my opinion about dispositioning free samples....
Some of you have made trades with me, and it has been my desire to be as fair possible, if not actually being a bit generous when and where I can. My trading activities have included manufacturers samples, and generally, they trade for other manufacturer samples, or for actual $1 casino chips, i.e., $1 chips that are face value at the casino and $3 in retail value to a collector.
In principal, manufacturers samples do have a value and nothing is ever for free. I am not aware of Pvt.Joker's specific circumstance, but he/she did take the time to make the request of Matsui. It may not have cost money, but it did cost time and effort, or at least the expendature of efforts that many of us have not done. Again, not knowing what he/she ended up doing, but perhaps there was a purchase of Matsui chips, does that not then factor into the overall value of the sample chips? Even if another manufacturer was selected, does this not still increase the value of the non-selecetd manufacture samples as a function of the time and effort to do the reasearch?
Anyway, my point is, to me, it matters not what the person got the chips for, only what they are worth to me to get. Is it a fair trade, or a fair purchase for me? If the other person got the chips for free, then good for them. If I get a fair trade/purchase, then good for me. But I do not expect the person that got chips for free to give them away for free. Sure its nice when it happens, and it does happen, but it should not be an expectation. If that were the case, then I should only offer my $1 chips at face value and $5 chips at face value, etc.
Well, just my opinion.

Chips: 32 | | | Re: Matsui- Company Samples I hope you're still happy with them
I don't think there's anything wrong in selling rmanufacturer's samples - if there is a market, then why give them away? Just check ebay....ordinary Matsui and Abbiati samples are $1.99.
Regards,

My feelings on selling them though is a bit different than others posted earlier. I'm just not so sure that selling samples received free from vendors that make them available to us with very few question asked is a good thing. Jinny at Matsui for instance is a terrific guy who supports our community. Reselling what he and others like him has generously offered for free just doesn't settle well with me.
