Chips: 79 | | | Going to Vegas first time tonight... Friend of mine gave me a Bally's $500 Chip to use while I am out there, but it is almost broken in half, the insert is holding it together, wondering what the Casino's general policys on damaged chips are and will they still cash it? |

WARNING: Be absolutely certain that it is genuine, before you present it at the cage. Counterfeit chips will get you prison time in Nevada |

How would you suggest he go about verifying its authenticity? Could he ask a friendly pit boss/dealer away from the cage to look at it without getting in trouble? |

Chips: 22 | | | Re: Going to Vegas first time tonight... Ask to see the floor manager (at least). Tell them you have a $500 check but did not get it at the casino, and want to be sure it’s real.
One of two things will happen:
1) It’s real and you’re good to go.
2) It’s counterfeit, and you will be heading for an interview with an investigator from Gaming. They will want every last detail on how you got the chip, and you’re going to need a verifiable story. Just possessing a counterfeit is a felony there, so they could make it hard if the story doesn’t check out. |

Chips: 70 | | | Re: Going to Vegas first time tonight... Before you even go that far, I would hold it up to a UV light to see if you can see any security markings. Most of the real casino chips will have an identifing mark somwhere on the chip.. I.E. Hat and cane in the middle of the inlay, the word Paulson or the name of the casino written in the inlay...Give it a shot. |

Post a pic and let us see it. Poisl had a good suggestion with the UV.
Sounds like it could be considered destroyed.

Maybe post a pic here.
There are some VERY knowledgeable members at CT that might be able to tell you something just from the image.
EDIT: Harlequin posted while I was writing. Yes, post a pic (I didn’t know they could deny payment if you didn’t win it)
