Score! My chip find...

I found a Poker Chip collection for sale of several hundred chips and tokens. I paid just over $400 for it and I would like to see if there is anything of real value here.

The tokens are standard worn dollar tokens from various casinos - 112 of them and a few larger ones that look to be nicer and more limited than the rest like the gold aladin token in an airtight. The white Hyatt token near the Horseshoes is actually a metal token with enamel-printed face.

The chips themselves are all in good to used condition, nothing really damaged but not much that is uncirculated either.

I have multiples of a lot of the chips so I would be open to trading some of them if there is anything you are specifically looking for.

All you chip experts out there, please look over my photos and tell me if I have anything of real value.. By real value, I mean more than close to face value. Obviously all the current issue chips are face value only, but there is a lot of older stuff.

Thanks!

HOLY SMOKES!!! Congrats on the score.

I've been looking for some of those Club One chips. I also like the Casino San Pablo BJ's.
(Hell, I like them all.)

Re: Score! My chip find...

Deja...

All-in-all, its a nice start on a collection!!! And very importantly, you have some traders!!!

Generally speaking, the $1 slot machine tokens are valued at $1 - $3.

The Aladdin $2 slot machine token is nice and is valued at around $5 - $7.

The vast majority of the chips are all common chips. Exceptions are the Artichoke Joe's (except the $1's showing the skyline), the Rio $1 without Rio Rita, and the Pioneer Reno.

The red $5 chip below the Horseshoe chips (which are commons) with the metal inlay... What casino is that?

Re: Score! My chip find...

Jim,

Thanks for the info!

The chip you asked about that looks like it has a metal inlay - It's a Club Cal Neva Reno Nevada $5 chip. The inlay looks more like a hot stamp, but it's raised and ruby metallic, unlike a any hot stamp I have seen.

Re: Score! My chip find...

That style of inlay is referred to as a Paul-Son Metal Inlay. It is a single metal plug embedded into the composition clay chip. Paul-Son no longer makes these, but when they were popular they came in several different shapes. Round, octagonal, shield, and a few others (I think).

The chip is valued at about $7 - $9 in that condition.

I suggest keeping it as metal inlay chips are not all that common!

Jim

Re: Score! My chip find...

Nice score, D! Was this the eBay purchase you made that was all scattered about in that photo you linked a few days back (IIRC)?

And more importantly, are there any rose or motorcycle chips in that batch?
