Chips: 41 | | | Old Clay Chip: What is it? I loved the fine artwork. A few mold imperfections, but beautiful otherwise. Any clues?

i have some of these chips... i love them. they come in red, blue, white, and the rarer yellow. red and white seem to be the most common colors of these. matbe gaming ore knows something about these. i've asked a few times in the past but have never really come up with anything... i'll try and find my pic of all 4 colors...

hk | hmmm... i can't find the chip pics with all 4 of them... i'll try and take a shot of them when i get home (probably tomorrow). here's a shot of the red, white, and blue chips though:
some of the red ones that i have are bright red like in this picture, but some of them are a deep maroon color.

Chips: 10,507 | | | Re: Old Clay Chip: What is it? If I am not mistaken, these too are clay composition chips from the United States Playing Card Company. Circa 1930 or so. Sold as three color sets (red, white and blue). Yellow was available as a separate purchase, which is why we don't see them as often as the other three colors.
The image depicted is that of the Star of David, also know as a Jewish star, which appears in many sizes and styles on poker chips throughout the history of chips.

Jim (Gaming Ore) Follis | Hey Jim,
Would you happen to know what the predominant denominations of the various colors that were used back in those days? Im guessing white=1, red=5, blue=10, and yellow =20. I picked up a box of old yellow plastic Drueke chips at a garage sale a long time ago, and always wondered that. At the time I had only seen plastic chips as red, white, blue.

Chips: 10,507 | | | Re: Old Clay Chip: What is it? Unless the chips were in a wooden carousel tray, they were sold by the box, 100 count.
50 white, 25 red and 25 blue. When you bought the yellows, I think they came in a tube of 25. However, I may be wrong on that, but as I recall (from reading about, not personal recollections!) is that chips w re definitely available by the 25 count tube, and I don't think yellows came in a box of 100.
I will ask around and post later.
