| Re: New Stardust Final Issue? In my opinion....
Down the road, the Bud Jones CIC's will be worth slightly more than the Paul-Son, last issue chips. When the Stardust closes, at the end of the year, I figure that in the final days, all of the $1 chips will be gone and perhaps all of the $5's. (This is what happened at the Desert Inn. I was there closing day and the cage had no $1 chips!)
Between now and the end of the year, the Paul-Son chips will get worn, while the Bud Jones chips (nearly indestructible) will still look great, and I believe, will hold a better value, over time.
One could make the arguement that the Paul-Son chips, in uncirculated condition, will be more valuable than the Bud Jones chips, in the long run, but hey, unless there is a re-order (which could happen) all the uncirculated Paul-Son chips have already been gathered by the collecting community and it's too late to get them. But the quantity already gathered is sufficient to exceed demand now and I suspect for years to come.
There is also another consideration. Are these Paul-Son's really the last "Stardust" issue? What are the plans for the Stardust? Has it been said that the "Stardust" name is going away, or are the current owners (Boyd Gaming) just tearing it down to re-build it as a newer Stardust?
If after several years of construction, the property at 3000 Las Vegas Blvd. S. is still under the same ownership (Boyd) and has the same name (Stardust) then I don't believe that the current Paul-Son chips will have any value greater than a common $1 chip.
But hey, this is just my opinion!!!
