Chips: 4,044 | | | Protege New Denominations for 2007 We're going to add some new denominations and NCV chips to fill out the Protege line. Please use this thread as the new home for these discussions.
In a nutshell, we're considering adding some additional denominations to the Protege line. Options include 5c, 10c, 50c, $2, $10, $20, $50, $25,000, $100,000. Additionally, we're considering adding 5 or so new NCV chips, that can be duplicate colors and edge spot patterns of the core Protege chips. The NCV set will no longer be for fill in of a regular set, but rather for it's own set altogether.
Chime in on your likes and dislikes.

Chips: 741 | | | Re: Protege New Denominations for 2007 Well, as the keeper of the designs for the Protégé line, I'll make this entry a placeholder for the most up-to-date iterations at hand. Updates will be found in the thread as they occur, but I'll also try to keep this current.
So for starters, here are the additional chips, both denominated and NCV chips. (And incidentally, these have already changed several times -- and will likely change some more -- so add your comments and check back soon!)
For reference (so you can see everything in context), here is the existing Protégé line, as well as a mockup of what would be the complete set:

Chips: 741 | | | Latest Thoughts -- The Summary Okay, here are some of the basics. - While the first run of additional denominations were based on those denominations in the original InPlay line (that were omitted in the Protégé line), there are also additional denominations under consideration (see Sidepot's post above). Speaking for myself, I want to make sure that the line remains coherent as a complete set, so figuring out how to fit new denominations into the overall line does take some efffort.
- I'll be adding a white NCV chip to the set (bringing it to six NCV chips in total); in effect, these appear to be turning into a standalone set (rather than merely filling holes in the primary line). Update: White chip added; see above post.
- Sidepot has indicated that additional spot patterns have become available since the original Protégé contest, including Horseshoe, single spot, and 8V patterns (count on seeing the 8V on the $100K chip). Update: All three of these patterns have been added, as well as some others to boot.
I think that's the latest. Be sure to add your thoughts and comments here -- no contest right now; as an artist, I just want to take advantage of the talent and experience here to produce the best possible chip line in the end.
Well, back to work...

Chips: 349 | | | Re: Protege New Denominations for 2007 I think that is great, and I'm waiting to see some of these chips in person. This will definently help with sales. Any idea when samples are going to be available?
Thanks |

Chips: 741 | | | Re: Protege New Denominations for 2007 Here is the latest version of the new denominated chips. I've swapped the 25K and 100K color sets, and changed the new 100K chip to an 8V pattern. I've also made sure that the super-grand inlays are in fact 1 1/4", and added an (admittedly arbitrary) 5˘ chip. I used Hawaii Flower as the base color, in that it was about all I could fit in that slot without duplication, and keeping in mind that it had to contrast with the other chips in that range. As for edge-spot patterns, I went with a single spot (not sure if we can do this or not); if we added a 10˘ chip as well, we'd probably use this pattern (or something comparable), and make the 5˘ plain.

Chips: 789 | | | Re: Protege New Denominations for 2007 I will comment, will you knock it off! Are you intentionally trying to make the few who neglected to jump on this GB feel even worse. Everytime I see one of your Mock ups, I keep kicking myself for not jumping on this when it was feasible. I think Sidepot you give you a commission to go along with your set. As I posted before "nice chips" Magus 23. |

The large inlay is already covering most of the chip, too many spots basically makes the main chip color just more spots
