I know it must stink to see your hard work getting beat - I think it's some excellent work - chin up! |

I was a bit torn up yesterday for the first hour or so. But then it occurred to me that I had made a correct initial assessment - my design was simply not how the bulk of other CTers saw this chip proceeding. And that's cool.
Maybe I'll have one of the Chinese ceramic companies rig me up some anyway.
As other's have stated, there are probably only 2...possibly 3...of the designs that I would actually purchase - although it's very likely that one of those 3 will be the winner.

You have a very good design put together; I was sure that since both of our designs were of the same 'vintage' feel, that the voting should be much closer.
I think your design would work great if all of the chip colors were a bit more subdued (the same may be said for my design as well) Quote: |

Chips: 1,375 | | | Re: Protege Inlay Design Face-Offs (VegasMike -vs- FL70) I can understand that 'Gold Medal' comes off as a little cheesy, but it was a commonly used term when referring to the creme de la creme of cigars back
in tobacco's heyday. Contests were held and medals were awarded - gold obviously going to the winner.
Thus the winners would display the gold medals their cigars had won on their boxes so consumers could see that it was a top notch product. I posted a few
of these vintage box labels in my thread as examples of the design theme.
I liked the crown and crest emblem as well for the same reasons (as it's basically straight from a Cuban cigar band). I was less attached to it than Side A,
but I didn't get much feedback until the end and no one (nor I) could come up with a suitable substitute.
I was running very short on time and as I had a few positive reactions to it on the cigar board, I stuck with it.
I think in the end my design was a little too geared toward the cigar enthusiast. |

Chips: 1,260 | | | Re: Protege Inlay Design Face-Offs (VegasMike -vs- FL70) I put in a vote for VegasMike's inlay ... it took me a while before I saw the difference in Side A and Side B ...
with that being said, if it hasn't already been expressed to you VegasMike, why not just go with the same
graphic on BOTH sides? The difference is VERY minimal ... I'm not much of a fan of dual sided chips for
regular use in games (which is why I like your design, because it LOOKS the same) ... but if the sides
are going to be different, they should be noticeably different. |
