Right off the bat, very clever name! My first suggestion would be to make the size of "THE" much smaller, as it looks strange the way it is. The graphic is nice, would you consider doing a coloured mockup?

Re: Protege Contestant #24: Michael000

Welcome aboard!

Nice combination of graphical and thematic elements! I agree that colored mockups would do a great deal to make this really hit home, but I would also consider losing the "Resort and Casino" tag line. Don't get me wrong -- it's a great concept -- but it does hit the "fantasy casino" mark that I think Sidepot's hoping to avoid. The more generally applicable it is, the more marketability it'll have.

I also have to say that I think the distressed-typeface look adds a pretty cool "antique class" element to it -- perfectly complements the pocketwatch.

Re: Protege Contestant #24: Michael000

This was my original mockup from a week ago. Very very rough. I was mostly just brainstorming on the first thing that came to mind when i thought of luxury, class, cigars, and sifters. I've decided to stay with the "time piece" theme but should have a totally overhauled mockup up within the next 24 hours.

I have a question and could use a little help if possible.

1.) Does our final entry have to be in vector format?
2.) Anyone have a vector or HQ image of the cigar and sifter from the mold? I'd like to incorporate it into the inlay in some way but don't have anything to work with. If worst comes to worst i can always try to vector trace one but i'm hoping there's one to use.

Final entry? No. Your entry at this stage can be in whatever format you like. But the final entry must be produced using the Sidepot chip creation tool. If your design is chosen as the winner, there may be other constraints, but my understanding was that there would be plenty of time to iron out format issues. So for your to-be-voted-on submission, you'll need to create 154x154 non-progressive JPEG images to insert into the inlay portion of the tool.

I suppose there may be exceptions if your design deviates wildly from something the tool can support (like Johnny5's giant inlays), but that I don't know about.

Can't help you on the vector versions of the mold, as much as I'd like to.

Ok thanks for the info and link magus. That's a relief for me since i can use illustrator but i'm not near as proficient in it as i am with photoshop.

Is there a picture here with this submission? If so, I don't see one.

Re: Protege Contestant #24: Michael000

I'm actually working with a combination myself. I'm designing in Illustrator, then bringing it into Photoshop for resizing and exporting as a JPEG image.

Re: Protege Contestant #24: Michael000

Ok this is the route i want to go. This is just the base mockup, i haven't even gotten to the colors yet but i will be adding some in there to match the edgespots and base colors. I'm also wanting to put some kind of text over the denom i just havent' decided what yet.
