This has potential, I've seen some nice logos from high end tailors, can't wait to see an original image!

Re: Protege Contestant #19: PinataUT

If there's one thing this competition has demonstrated, it's that people can reliably come up with imagery that is entirely appropriate to the theme and yet wildly different than anything anyone else has come up with. Sure, there are consistent themes, and areas of overlap, but I can still be surprised by something new.

I never would have thought of Savile Row beforehand, but now it makes perfect sense. Can't wait to see where this goes.

Great idea!

P.S.: That reminds me -- I have to pick up my new suit from the tailor this week...

Ah, cool.

5 days of rain right before my vacation had me ready to build an ark, so I was only able to send the quick note to Sidepot.

I have some sketches I'll try to get up in the next few days now that I'm home (and home appears only damp - not flooded!).

This is the basic concept - obverse design with arc, reverse design with some text and a larger denom. Front probably needs to have the denom be bigger.

I can't find the bitmap image source and that does not bode well for its use as anything other than a placeholder until suitable replacement art is made.

Thoughts?

Re: Protege Contestant #19: PinataUT

A couple of quick thoughts:

One, maybe go a little simpler on the graphic -- tailor's tools rather than the full illustration, for example (chalk, measuring tape, needle, etc.). You'll also need to play with the typefaces; you'll probably want to go with more old style than modern. And though the large graphic size does show off the chip well, it's really hard to get a sense of how it'll look on a (much smaller) chip.

Two, at the risk of sounding like a clueless marketing executive, maybe shorten "Savile Row" to just "Savile." You could incorporate a stylized "S" into the chip -- maybe a curving tape measure...

Tailor's tools - yes, I'd been toying with that just hadn't had time to do something that worked.

Typefaces - my sans serif font is awful. I normally contrast on size, weight, color, serif, and type of stroke. I left the present font in as a placeholder so I don't leave in a clashing font...

Re: Protege Contestant #19: PinataUT (FOCUSED FEEDBACK TODAY)

I really think you should go more for the essence of savile row, rather than a literal visualization of tailoring. Maybe a subdued background(s) of pattern(s) of fabric from well made fine ties?

Also seconding just using "Savile".

I think that tie pattern is a great idea, the possibilities are virtually endless.
