Chips: 4,044 | | | Protege Contestant #12: Stank1000 My idea was created with the image of a higher stakes, higher class, private home game in mind. i pictured a nice room with dark wood finishings, leather furniture, maybe a nice chandelier, etc... i'll go into more detail tomorrow when i have more time, but here is what i have so far.
This first post represents the "original submission" only, and enables the initiation of the discussion thread on this chip submission. This thread now belongs to Stank1000, and he may use his first post within this tread to post updates/changes to his submission, which will ultimately be the design of his that gets submitted into the voting rounds on July 17th.
Feedback, comments, & constructive criticism encouraged!

just to clarify, these are NOT front and back, but two different versions of the same idea. i was worried that the top design may not show the detail clear enough on the smaller inlay.
here's with the denom written instead :

Chips: 10,069 | | | Re: Protege Contestant #12: Stank1000 I definitely like the look of the bottom set better and like the concept of a high limit playing area which the pillars give that feel. The top is too real looking I think.
I guess you have the same issue with the High Rollers but it doesn't bother me (ok 'cause it's high stales for me, lol)... now if they were 1˘, 5˘, 10˘ etc... I might have a diff opinion. Reflects the chip too to some extent as they're not cheap

Chips: 741 | | | Re: Protege Contestant #12: Stank1000 I really like the idea -- I can already smell the leather chairs, see the wainscoting finish on the walls... You've done a great job of capturing some of the iconic imagery of "wealth."
I'm reminded of something from Busting Vegas (or maybe it was Bringing Down the House) that said leather was the true smell of wealth, not expensive cologne. In a room full of real high-rollers, the guys with the expensive frangrances work for these guys.
Very nice job! |

Chips: 1,816 | | | Re: Protege Contestant #12: Stank1000 not that it matters with some of the other submissions which are clearly tgoing to win this, but i was going to try a black background, but decided against because of the "white ring" issue. any thoughts on that? i also would like the gradients to not be as straight and perfect, but i'm not quite sure how to do this. |

As for more nuanced gradients, if you're working in Illustrator, you might try experimenting with Gradient Meshes (create your shapes, then choose Create Gradient Mesh... from the Object menu, which will allow you to apply color attributes to specific points within an object) or using the Blend Tool to create gradual transitions from shape to shape (though you'll have to make sure your shapes are at least reasonably similar). |
