By itself, I prefer the blood red.
But next to that blue chip, I like the brighter (royal) red. I voted for #10.

That's kind of the same process I went thru. It really helps to have the existing set in there. I think we'll make this mandatory on all subsequent vote-offs.

Now that we're down to picking shades of colors, is there any guidance as to how the chip colors look in real life vs. on-screen?

This is an excellent point, because there is a good deal of difference on some chips - some more than others. The best advice I can give is to look at photos of real chips on our site (the product detail pages have a "more Images" area with some pretty good close-ups) or some of the other sites.

X-files and myself have both seen the real chips, so perhaps he has some suggestions.

yeah, in real life all chips have that "damn, i should've bought 200 of these" shade, while on-screen they have a "100 of these should be fine" shade!
