What I was thinking was not a uniform edgespot config, but maybe using the same spot once or twice in the series, similar to what we're doing in the papazoid thread. That way they'd have some cohesion and not just a showcase of how many different edgespots and colors can we use in one set.
I have to spend some time on the patterns so I can post an example. Quote: |

Nonetheless, I'm trying to keep my preference out of this process as much as possible. The intent of this contest is to totally avoid a top down design approach. The reason we're going with a progression for the default color/edge spot set is that seemed to be the way the community was leaning. If you'd like to propose a uniform edge spot set, we could certainly entertain that as well. Perhaps we could have two default sets, one progression and one not. I'd be interested in hearing feedback from others to support or oppose the idea of a uniform set.
And remember that individual inlay design submitters are free to use their own spots (progression or not) as well. |

I assume that for a given 'triple spot', the outer two spots could be identical, with the middle one being different. In the case of #10, this would actually result in a #11. But the #9 doesn't have a similar counterpart already in the mix. This is the chip I am proposing for the $25 below.
#6 and #8 are virtually identical- what is the difference on the spot size? 3/16 vs 1/4? just curious- I'm not using either...
anyway, here's my proposal. I placed the 25c on the bottom row with the non-denom, cuz it kinda screws with the progression pattern to see it between the 100 and the 500...
The low denoms are tri-spots and the high denoms are quad-spots, with each increasing denom adding more colors. the 25c and non-denom are the only ones with 1/8 spots.
$1.......... $5........... $25(2 diff spot colors)..... $100(3 diff spot colors)
$500........... $1000........... $5000
25cent........... No Denom |

"Progression" is a false construct. And because these chips will have denominations, any attempt at said progression would be redundant.
I support any chip, at any denomination, that looks good. |

I like odd numbered edgespots, so the others don't do it for me.
I guess I'm only voting for four chips, progressing as I have them above. I don't really care which denoms these are used for, although I'm sure they would look nice on the 1-5-25-100 progression.
Edit: I think there are variations that aren't shown here. Couldn't you make chip #9 with say color A on spot 1 and 3 and color B on spot 2? That would be a 'tweener chip between 13 and 9. |

The more input, the better. We want to hear from you even if there are only a few of the edge spot configurations you like. A post of just "I like #3 and #17" is just fine. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
