One question, should we AT LEAST try to agree that we are working within the paramaters of the existing edge spot progressions?
If we can commit to THAT, then at least we have framework by which we can move forward. An alternative approach might look something like this...
1. Agree on Edgespot Progressions
2. Agree on Base Chip Colors
If we get those nailed down, then the edgespot colors become the only subjective component of design and we should easily be able to put those up to a vote for each chip. |

Chips: 1,816 | | | Re: Protégé Stage 3 - New Escalated "Path" to the Final Color Set i think one chip at a time is a good idea. my problem when designing a whole set is that when i come up with a chip i love, i scrap it becuase i've already used that edgespot configuration or color already. but i try not to do this, because i think too much emphasis is paid on using all edgespots. i think one set with 8 different edgespots is just too busy. so i had an idea for this (might be worth a try, might not). what if we spend one day or so on each chip. post ideas, run a poll, but DON"T post the results on each chip until all denoms are done. then post all the top votes as a set, and see how they look. i just think this may put less emphasis on variety and more on good looking chips. just a suggestion, may be a waste of a week or so, but what's one more week! |

I think the $5 here is too bland. The dark chip base needs a light color to make it pop IMO.
On a sidenote... with a few more posts that $1000 peach chip will stop buring my eyes when I open this thread

Chips: 275 | | | Re: Protégé Stage 3 - New Escalated "Path" to the Final Color Set I actually like the 5. It's classy. The colors are definitely muted, but they seem almost "royal". They might need adjustment, but I don't think substituting day-glow yellow for the tan is where it's at. Maybe some mock-ups using the same edge-spot pattern would be nice to see.
I keep hearing the word "pop" used as a positive; the black chip pops, and I think it's hideous. We're going for a luxury chip-set here.
Just an opinion, though. |

Chips: 634 | | | Re: Protégé Stage 3 - New Escalated "Path" to the Final Color Set I could not agree with Ten more about the discussion of this thread. Although in my honest opinion I agree with several other how would like to see groups of progressions ie (.25, 1, 5) group (25, 100, 500, NVC) group.
Although progression is nice it will almost be next to impossible to keep it through on 8 chips.
Lets get the $5 started by saying RED base and at least one light color to make it pop!!!
Lets GO!!!!!!!! I want these in my hands by Christmas! |

Chips: 1,211 | | | Re: Protégé Stage 3 - New Escalated "Path" to the Final Color Set If we are only talking about the $5 chip - I think it is acceptable. My only concern is with Blue Chips muted tones - I just don't like em. So if you look at the Mardi Gras Blue Chip, in person, with the Red and Beige, it doesn't look that great to me.
Certainly the chip does not "pop" but I did not understand this chip set to want to have a "Pop" factor.
