I've had the longest week I've ever had at work... and it's not over yet. at 2am tonight we are bouncing all our mainframes for the time change and all he77 will break loose for my servers. I am on-call for this.
I hope to have some time very soon to get caught up on comemnts here new polls started. We need to discuss what steps we want to be in right now... colors or inlays. I will take suggestions, but I want to stay on a track that is best for the members and for the contest rules. remember, we must get approvals from the manufacture for colors, and we can;t keep going back and back to them with tweaks. |

I think its best to move to inlays; put 'em on the set that was voted in, then tweak accordingly. That way, the "tweaks" are yielding final versions of the chip. |

I think grath's suggestion is a good one with one caveat. A clearer picture of what 'tweak' means would help alot. Does tweak mean, 'I like the blue, but make the edgespots grey instead of white' or does it mean, 'I like the blue, but make it dark blue, and instead of three spots, make it four, and instead of just white edgespots, make it white and orange'?
It's hard enough not designing the chip and inlay together. If tweak means the set is going to basically look like it does with a few minor changes, then I agree to move on to inlays. I think that inlays could be submitted both on the set and on a set with tweaks. With a range of colors/spots for the chip narrowed down, I don't think it'd be a big deal if the inlay appeared on a tweaked set.
Am I the only one who thinks it's weird that this set won, and no one who replied in this thread likes it very much?

It needs to be pretty good for me to put the brakes on my custom ASM order!!
But - at .85c per chip and the options on edge spots here, this thread still has my interest (and no, I don't think I voted for this set!) |

Chips: 34 | | | Re: Protégé Stage 3 - Tweaking the Set as much as i would like to just move onto the inlays, do you guys think that we should try to get the colors where we want them and then submit them? since we the colors must be approved by sidepot i would hate to see us go crazy posting, and racking our brains, 7 people fighting for different colors on one chip...the dust settles...everyone seems happy...then sidepot shoots down our color submission.
i'm not saying that's how it would happen, i'm just saying i don't want to see it happen. so maybe we could spend a couple days trying to get these colors close, see if we are on the same page as sidepot and pick up from there.
just my 2 cents. anyway we go i'm game. i'm looking forward to 10's next big revelation!!! |

The next logical set is to start posting inlays. Can't quite imagine what the hold up is. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
