In the later phases of the Inlay Stage, the artists can tweak colors, but not at the beginning. | So, what we are voting for is the colours that will be used for the inlay competition. Nothing more than that. In which case, I probably don't really care. Whatever speeds the process up and gets to the main course.
Then, the winner of the inlay competition gets to tweak (i.e. choose) the colours of the final chips with the help of future polls or whatever. |

Plus we cannot take 100 color checks to the manufacturer for approval. We'll take this set to them, and then after the tweaks, we'll take it again. Then, if a designer tweaks them again, we'll take them one last time. |

There are just way too many variables to properly judge one from the other and I did not do a lot of campaigning to get votes either.
And I've been a designer for over 30 years and have entered a number of local and international design competitions in my time which is why I see this competition format/process as less than ideal. | Nobody's saying that you have to give up, and I'm certain you're an excellent designer, and I understand that you're upset about the final choices, but Ten had made it pretty clear that what we're looking at here is colours. Not spot patterns, not even colour combinations, rather the direction that people want to go with these chips.
It's really just to give them something to design their inlay against. As far as I can tell, this has NOTHING to do with the actual competition and I for one am very excited to see what our fellow chippers have come up with. Good luck to everyone! |

I don't see a white chip in group #2. |

Chips: 2,923 | | | Re: Protégé Stage 2 - Color/Edge Vote D I voted #1 simply because I like the base body colors better.
#2's body colors are "just a little off" to me.
I like my red RED, my green GREEN, and my purple VIOLET, not maroon, moss, and blurple.
I guess we'll just see how this pans out.
And if #1 is picked, I would design the white chip to be a 25 cent chip for sure.
Feeling a bit like the beginnings of a fustercluck to me, but I'll be patient and trust the powers that be to lead us in the right direction as this progresses.
Oh and in the next phase, will the designers be given a color pallette (like PMS color tags or CMYK %'s) to use to match the usable chip colors? |

The colors are beyond awful, (sorry, 'need adjusting'. Don't want to hurt feelings here, but they REALLY need work.)
No comment on #1. It's been flamed enough. |
