I don't know that this is totally possible. I'll be interested in seeing what other people are thinking when the inlay threads open up.
I would imagine that we would at least need to decide on a name, or a theme. ("Upscale Cardroom" is NOT a theme, unless we chose a name first.)
You can't just put an "icon" on a chip and expect it to be read as a casino or card room logo. Without a name to support it, a logo is just a
shape.
The Starbucks mermaid was mentioned in the rules as a good example of what they like, but ONLY because Starbucks has a name to go with it, and the well known reputation for being a coffee house, does that mermaid becomes very subtle and secondary. The MGM lion only means something because they use one at the beginning of every movie, otherwise it is just a big cat.
If you saw
just that Starbucks mermaid logo somewhere, you would think differently about what product they sold, perhaps pool supplies or diving equipment instead of coffee.
A logo alone does nothing to identify a company or product without some kind of support via a name or a theme to go with it.
I personally think the next phase should be to determine a fun, original and creative concept for the designers to work from.
Agree or disagree?
