I've got to agree with some of the other comments here and I think we need some kind of direction here from the contest admins. We're getting real cluttered real fast to the point where I don't really want to get too involved in discussions because it's just going to get lost in submission after submission.
If the intent of this thread was just information gathering, then I think any more info is starting to border on overload.
I hope I'm not overstepping here, but may I suggest a thread 2C, Ten? Something like where the only posts need to be ONE submission from those who want to submit and seconds, third, fourths, whatever on those submissions. There's been some decent feedback on most submissions in this thread and the designers in most cases should have enough to go on to make their one best submission. |

Whenever you try to make a decision like this by committee it's very hard to get a good set of chips. There's too many variables with all these 3 decisions being made at once and everyone submitting their vision at once. Maybe we only split it into edgespot progression and then all the colors at once? And maybe we then have everyone submit one denom at a time and compare all the chips on a per denom basis?
I really don't know what the best way to do this is but I do know I was excited as hell when this first started and now only 2 days later I'm sick of looking at all these chips and have absolutely no idea how I'd go about picking which set is best even if I was the only one choosing.
Picking an edgespot progression, everyone has only 1 choice; which set do you like best. Not which chip from which set do they like best, etc. I feel like once that is out of the way it'll be a lot easier for everything to be a vote. |

(EDIT: I moved a couple of my posts over to that thread and got some response, so I guess this was a good idea after all)
Also, (not trying to step on toes here) I think spiff's idea for a thread 2C is fantastic.

Not sure what to do with it though, seeing as this thread seems to be splintering.
Or unravelling.. |

Take the World Trade Center architectural design competition. In that case, the winning design had great potential but the owners committee started mucking with it, then hired a new architect to work out changes to the original concept.
I'm not able to make any other recommendations at the moment but will think about it. Voting on the top 20 for continued work would be a possibility. |

There's been a few ideas floating around, about what should done to quash the bulk of choices. I'm actually excited by the sheer number of submissions, this means that there's a lot of interest and that's a good thing!
I for one am not a fan of creating a set based on spot progressions or standard conventions, as I create chipsets that I think look good, work well with each other, and are original.
This is a chance for us to create a complete custom fantasy set, and I think making all of these talented artists conform to certain spot progressions will only limit the unique pairings that are possible in the wide spectrum of possibilities.
As for the flood of chips that are being submitted, I leave it up to our admins to figure it out! Good luck you guys!
And in case anybody's asking, I'm sticking with my original submission! (Page 2)
