Chips: 36 | | | Re: Epiphany Pre-Buy URLs Well, I finally received mine... and, I feel really mixed about them. There are some really great things about them and unfortunately, some pretty poor things about them, too.
Pro's - I really like how the colors turned out on all of them. The $1s, $5, $25, $1k, $5k in particular have great color to them, I think.
- The edges look fantastic. Very cool and unique. They are glossy and have a different texture than the face of the chip.
- The intricate design on the brighter colored chips looks amazing. The gray .25s, green $25s, pink 5k, and the NCV chips all come to mind here.
Cons: - One of two major flaws: Probably one third of my 450 order contains chips with blurred or faded regions. Some chips look fantastic with the intricate design, while others can be downright awful. Also, the "dollar" or "cents" text is incredibly faint or faded on nearly every single chip. (I think it would have been better to just not have the text and make room for a bigger denomination like gaber's chips.)
- Second of two major flaws: The denominations are really small. I like small text, but this is pretty bad, I think. Any smaller and it wouldn't be worth having it on there.
- The Black $100 chip is awful because you cannot make out the track design unless it is within 8 inches of your eyes.
- Finally, they do scratch without too much difficulty. I have a handful that did come scratched straight out of the box. Particularly, the 100's appeared to be the victims most often.
So, here are finally some pictures [The stacked picture was 160 tall]:

| I also did notice a few scratches on some of my chips, but the blurred chips are the ones that I am most sad about also. I only have a couple, but if I would have got a couple of extra chips, I could put the blurred ones in the bottom of my case. A couple of the other flaws that you have could just be the design and not sidepot. I know next time, any roling edge should be very simple, small design would not work very well. |

Chips: 36 | | | Re: Epiphany Pre-Buy URLs Yah, some of the flaws are definitely design-oriented and not sidepot's fault at all. But the track design on the 100 is worthless, IMO, on every chip. This should have been noticed early in the prototype stages. A much, much brighter color should have been used instead. There are quite a few very blurry chips though and it makes you dizzy if you look at them for more than a few seconds. Meanwhile, others are quite sharp. This is certainly sidepot's fault. |

I hate to say I told ya so.
Not you Adam. It just seemed that when I stated that they scratched easy before the buy, everyone seemed to jump on me. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
