Epiphany Grand Finale (Phase 3) Official Kick-off

Thanks for your patience thru the first 2 "set-up stages". Now things should get interesting as we're onto the grand finale, the complete ceramic chip set design phase. The top 3 finishers in this final phase all win prizes, with the winner getting a custom 1000-chip set of Sidepot's Epiphany ceramic chips. Second and third place get 500 and 300 chip sets, respectively.

Contestant submissions for the overall chip design phase are to be submitted to both Sidepot and Tenpercenter via PM. Design submissions may use the existing track and rolling edge designs (from Sidepot's chip design tool), or their own new designs at the discretion of each Contestant. The tool should be helpful to many contestants, but there is no requirement to use it.

We'll have a brief discussion in this thread of likes and dislikes in current ceramic chip design, followed by submissions. I'd like to have all submission in by May 31st, and we'll simultaneously unveil the contestant designs on June 1st. All seconded Contestant submissions from this unveiling will go onto the voting rounds, where a winning design will be chosen by a series of face-offs.

As discussed above, a prize will be awarded to the top three Contestants, and, at Sidepot’s sole discretion, a large sample of the top finisher’s designs may be made available to the general public for their own custom chips via Sidepot’s website. Additionally, any new track and rolling edge designs unveiled for the first time in this final stage may be added to the chip design tool and made available to the general public for their own custom chips via Sidepot’s website.

Before we move onto submissions, let's have some discussion about likes and dislikes in ceramic chip line designs.

This custom ChipTalk link is built to show you only the real deal: Casino quality poker chips; Not the plastic chips that some sellers call "clay."

Re: Epiphany Grand Finale (Phase 3) Official Kick-off

I like all the colors that are available and the limitless design that can be done. After doing the roling edge design, it is fun to do all the colors, but everything is small. So, a good main color base for the edge is nice to see from afar, and a little detail for the close up. Is there a number of chips that we should do, or a denomation set that should be followed? Cash Or Tourny?

Would it be helpful for the final phase if the final design was kept anonymous until the final two were selected?
Can a variety of denominations be submitted for the final or should we keep it to a single generic non denominational chip?

Should we limit the final design to the color pallet available from the mock up tool?

Good question. I think we should do a set with the following denoms:

25c, $1, $5, $25, $100, $500, $1000, $5000 and NCV.

Anonymous - I can see some bias benefit here, but I think it's more fun to route for your favorites and know who's behind everything. I don't think there's too much favoritism - after all the winner of the last round came out of nowhere.

Submission - Submit a full set, with the denoms in the above.

Palette - Yes we'll need to stick with this color pallete (borrowed from Chipco with their permission).

Should we stick to standard base colors or perhaps have Cali colors?

Diablo - It's each designer's call. Consider the voting crowd with whatever you do.
