Re: Epiphany Phase 2: Unveiling of Design Submissions

I like the variety here. But in the interests of starting discussion, I'll make a comment.

There was some discussion in the earlier thread about denominations versus no denominations along the rolling edge, and I think in the end, that just comes down to personal preference (and we've got a few options for both here). But one thing that I know I struggled with was orientation. After all, unless you're obsessively stacking your chips one by one, if you've got denominations, half of them are likely to be upside down. Now I suspect that's not something most people spend time thinking about, but for my design, I tried to address that by alternating the design orientation.

Where I particularly noticed the orientation issue here was on JumpingJack's design. It doesn't have a denomination on it, but does have artwork that has a definite orientation (and I like the incorporation of Sidepot's signature cigar and snifter). So what do people think? Single orientation even if half of them end up upside-down? Or varying orientation -- which still leaves half upside down, but guarantees at least some correct orientation on every chip?

Just rambling, but I wanted to start some critique...

Re: Epiphany Phase 2: Unveiling of Design Submissions

I sent sidepot a different, but similar design that would would not have and up or down orientation, you might see it in the tool, I do not know. But after playing cards in my local card room, I do see people stacking there chips in a perfect patern. So may be if the chips are design to be orientated one way, that will give some people something to do.

It is a nice though, and if needed, I am sure that we could tweek our designs a little to make them that way. What about the chips that have two different lables?

Re: Epiphany Phase 2: Unveiling of Design Submissions

I don't think it would be too much trouble to adjust current designs for an alternating orientation. Probably something Sidepot can just code into the mock-up program. I personally don't care if people want to create a different orientation with my own design. In fact I hope everyone understands that the "25" denomination is just a marker and doesn't mean everyones' chips are all $25 or cents or whatnot .

I do think that Jumping Jack's very cool design would look even better with an alternating cigar & sifter.

Sorry for the delay in getting to voting. Should give the tool makers a few more days to get the designs into the tool, at least.

Let's start the voting!
