Chips: 4,044 | | | Epiphany Phase 2 Official Kick-off Phase 2 is all about rolling edge designs. There's a 300 custom Epiphany prize to the winner of this phase as well. Before we have a call for design submissions, let's have some discussion about likes and dislikes in ceramic chip rolling edge designs (and keep in mind that as the track designs include a white ring, the rolling edge designs will be spacially separated from the track designs so there will be flexibility to use many different rolling edge designs with each track design in the tool).
If you're wondering what the rolling edge design is, it's everying on the rolling edge. I'll provide submission specs (sizing) a little later. For illustration purposes, here is the rolling edge design of our Archetype chips:
Use this thread to post your likes and dislikes on rolling edge design.

Chips: 596 | | | Re: Epiphany Phase 2 Official Kick-off What I like about ceramics is that you can put the just about anything on the rollling edge. My feeling is since it is a ceramic chip then do something that cannot be done on clay chips. I think denominations on the edge are very sharp. The edgespots on the Tikis are also very sharp being diagonal.
too much text is not very good IMO |

Chips: 261 | | | Re: Epiphany Phase 2 Official Kick-off I like the tikis edge, it is a good base for a start. It is very close to Finn's wave, can we just put his track design on the edge?
Type is neet, but small, I recived the chip that came with the plaque sample and I can barley read it, go with gpc, denominations only. |

Chips: 1,000 | | | Re: Epiphany Phase 2 Official Kick-off It may only be me, but I think engaging different designers in 1 chip is kinda confusing. Why have a trackdesign by 1 designer, and a rolling edge with different artwork from another designer?
Just something that comes to mind now that I follow this contest...
It's ceramic, so everything is possible. It's not about colors, but about a different style. IMHO there can be no other style on the rolling edge then Magus'. |

Chips: 191 | | | Re: Epiphany Phase 2 Official Kick-off As far as i understood this contest, the point for sidepot is not to choose one winning design but to get lots of them, even though there will be just one winner in the racetrack and rolling edge design part and three in the final design part, sidepot will implement more designs than just the top entries of every stage.
So finally there will be a custom chip tool with lots of different choices for each single thing: rolling edge, racetrack and inlay. The letter one will be the most customizable part of the chip though, that's why there is no special stage for in the contest, because the customers will be able to design their own inlay and combine it with ready racetrack and rolling edge designs in their favorite color.
Right? |

I think you nailed it. One person can do a rolling that would match a track design or can do some thing totaly different. Once we get to the final stage and get to use sidpots tool with all the great designs, we can trully have a custome chip. Twenty tracks to pick from, twenty different rolling edges to pick from, and you can have it in any color. I hope people that have not entered a design in stage one or two, will use the tool and make there own.
It is easy to use and the color choices are great. If you haven't, go there and play with the tool, even with the one design there it is fun. |

Chips: 191 | | | Re: Epiphany Phase 2 Official Kick-off And this is also why there is the white ring around the racetrack required, to make the different racetracks all able to be next to different rolling edge designs
If I get some program to do rolling edge designs within next week I'll participate in this stage as well | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
