Chips: 1,555 | | Here's another "sexy" chip that I also like, it's another from the Hard Rock Hotel in Vegas. It's an odd color for a $25 chip, but the Hard Rock frequently pulls out an unusual color for its chips. (Remember that leopard skin ZZ Top chip?)
The old Hard Rock's had some pretty good artwork from the late 90's to 2002. The new stuff isn't as good, with the exception of last year's April Fools chip. |

Some chips i found in closet from long ago trips and forgotten about, sorry didn't clean them up just found them and had to post, i guess this is a start no matter how small!
Just thought i should mention that the top chips came from a casino in the bahamas (crystal palace) thought it interesting that a casino used coin inserts for chips are there any other casino's that use coin chips? |

Chips: 79 | | Deejay, there are many casinos that use the Bud Jones metal inlay. What I find more interesting is TH&C chips w/metal inlays:
And here is some eye candy
sorry for the huge pics |

In 'chip-speak' the Fremont chip you are showing is referred to as a "metal insert" chip (made by PaulSon), while the Bud Jones type of chips are referred to as "Coin-in-Center" or CIC chips. All CIC's are round in shape, while the metal insert of a metal insert chip can have different shapes. Typical examples are round, hexagonal, octagonal, and shield.
Metal inserst are one piece of metal, while CIC's are two disks of metal mounted back-to-back. Sometimes, one side of a metal insert has a 3 or 4 digit number. That number reflects the month and year that the chip was made.
I like your Fremont chip! I estimate its value at about $25.

Chips: 79 | | | Re: My favorite chip scans Thank you for the info and chip compliment Jim. If you like that one, you must see the $1 Fremont MC chip; it is a very odd and bright color for a chip, especially a $1 chip:
And here is my collection of Paulson metal insert chips (minus the recent purchase of a $5 and $25 Gold Dust chip): |

Chips: 10,807 | | | Wow!!! Very nice indeed!!! The Fremont $1 was issued in 1976 and has a value of about $60 (in such good condition).
The El Cortez $1 was issued in 1974 and has a value of about $25 (in used condition).
The Club Cal Neva $5 was issued in the 70's (there were three slightly different versions) all of which are valued as $5 - $9. Without being there, this tells me that the chip is still in-use at the casino.
The El Cortez $5 was issued in the 70's (there were two versions, one with a brass inlay and one with a green inlay). The brass inlay (yours) is valued at about $25 - $40 (in used condition). The other version is only slightly higher, say $5 - $10.
Gold Dust Metal Inlay chips are valued at:
$5 - Based in condition can be valued as high as $50. This issue was from 1976 and many believe it to be one of several Bicentennial issues, as the colors are red, with white and blue inserts. I have one as part of my Bicentennial section.
$25 - Also issued in 1976, there are two versions, one common and the other very desirable!! The common version, at as much as $150, has 3 sets of double inserts, pink and white. The desirable (yes, even Rare) version has three sets of three inserts, orange, lime and grey and is valued at $800 or more!
So, which one do you have?
Nice grouping. BTW-Why did you refer to the Fremont $1 as a Fremont "MC"? What is the MC, please?

Chips: 79 | | | Re: Wow!!! Very nice indeed!!! Wow, thank you Jim, I never knew there were different variations of those chips. Looks like I have more chips to collect now (like I really needed that).
As far as the $25 Gold Dust, I have the less desirable of the two.
By MC I meant "metal center." | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
