New chips for my collection

My package arrived today with the new copy of The Complete Guide to Colorado Chips, Tokens and Silver Strikes and eight brand new 2005 chips from Colorado!! Below is a scan of the new bounty...

The old Mardi Gras Casino closed as of June 30th and on July 1st the new casino Golden Mardi Gras opened with brand new chips!!! Lots of new poker rooms going in as well with new chips.

Woot! Scanned them all in separately and posted them on my collection web site. Fun to see a lot of new chips showing up at the casinos here locally.

Nice chips

Have you been to the Gilpin Casino yet? I don't remember seeing it when I was in Black Hawk. Is it in the older part of town, away from the main strip where they're constructing all those new casinos? Is that a 50cent Chipco?

Funny you should mention the Gilpin. The last time I was in Black Hawk, I didn't remember seeing that building. I hadn't gone inside it but it IS there - just off the main street I believe.

And yes, that is a 50 cent Chipco they are using in the Poker room for some lower stakes games. Next time I'm there I'll have to try to pick up a few more of those. Here are the backs of the Canyon and Gilpins that show a different side of the casino:

These chips are ones I had ordered. I haven't been up there for a few months and missed getting these. The Golden Mardi Gras are brand spanking new though. When I go up to Central City and Black Hawk, I usually hang out in some of the bigger casinos like the Isle of Capri and Fortune Valley. Unless there are new chips that I'm aware of, I typically don't go to the smaller casinos there much. The Colorado Central Station is now being joined to the Isle of Capri with a huge new overhead walkway - should be open soon. Lots of activity going on. The Mountain High casino has been bought out by Ameristar Casinos and is redecorating now and will soon re-open under a new name (and with some new chips as well!) Hope to go up there for that re-opening.

The Gilpin is kind of easy to miss...it sits between the Canyon and Fitgerald's.

It is, in my opinion, the best poker room in town. It is the only casino that offers anything other than that cap fest 2-5. They will play anything you want, 1/2, 2/4...whatever within the legal limit.

I always try to "obtain' a couple of their chipcos when I play...still haven't managed a .50 yet.

I know what you mean. I played at Fortune Valley in Central City and just about every other hand you had 1 or 2 people capping the bets. It's all about who can cap it 1st. Lol. I managed to survive playing for 3.5 hours there and came away with about an $8 profit. Not that good but hey, I didn't lose either!
